Ok, so I recently purchased a pair of white pants (they r so cute and look fabulous on) but I want to know if I can wear them in the winter or are they a summer exclusive?
Most people treat them as a summer exclusive. I live in a four season climate, but I understand those living in subtropical parts of the US still tend to wear darker colors in the fall/winter. I did read about one fashionista who wears nothing but white jeans - those are a signature item for her.
I would think the weight of the fabric would be as much, if not more of a determining factor than the color...is it a lightweight cotton blend or a denim?
A pure white pant in a lightweight fabric would be unacceptable except for maybe in a subtropical area. However, a winter white (off-white or cream colored) pant in a heavy denim or heavy weight fabric is appropriate for winter when paired with a sweater in the same color or pretty pastels. I have a pair of cream colored denim jeans with camel stitching on the pockets that I put with a cream turtleneck and a camel colored sweater jacket. It is one of my favorite outfits especially when Spring is near but it is still cold outside.
Yes, I think you are free to wear your white pants in the winter. As long as you apply good fashion sense, you don't have to follow any old-fashioned rules.
