I am a 40-plus woman who likes shopping in boutiques. I just moved to the Chicago area and am looking for non-chain stores in the city -- not necessarily designer clothing; just nice stuff for work, with some flair. I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I used to live in Chicago and have a good friend in Buck Town. Times that I've visited, I've noticed really cute boutiques neer her place. Try Damen Ave. between North Ave and I94. There are great restaurants and bars along Damen as well. Good luck and enjoy Chicago!
