My inspiration for the room was one very precious yard of Laurie Smith's fabulous Gibson’s stripe decorator fabric in robin.
I bought ten sea grass mats at 99 cents each from Big Lots and adhered them to the wall with liquid starch. To initially help hold them up, we stapled them at the very top and added crown molding over the staples. I made decorative diamond shapes from Sculpey clay then painted them with a copper metallic paint. They were then hot glued to the mats.
Opposite the sea grass wall, I enlarged Laurie's fabric 10 times and painted the pattern on the wall!
I covered four art canvases with corresponding fabrics and attached magnetic boards to them.
Below the boards is a modern open-shelved dresser with 2 drawars below which I purchased from the Disabled American Vets for $25.00.
It was tricky laying out the precious yard of fabric in order to make the Gibson striped pillows. The sequenced bolster is stuffed with paper towel rolls still in their plastic wrapper!
My bedside tables were from a 90% off sale at Hobby Lobby. I stripped the paint and stained them dark walnut to match my bed.
The curtain rod concealed by a tube is covered with Laurie's fabric and the curtains are a tablecloth purchased at the Goodwill cut in half.
