In my first house, the kitchen was the first room to be changed. What was done: linoleum floor ripped out and ceramic tile laid, formica backsplash replaced with aluminum flashing, countertop replaced, new sink installed, minor plumbing repairs, walls, ceiling, cupboards and pantry door painted, cupboard hardware replaced, new shoe molding, new trim from ceramic tile to hardwood floors, bookcase built and painted, mural--reproduction painted on canvas and installed like wallpaper, tile mural--poster decoupaged on tile and installed, valance--fabric valance sewn and painted, recovered chair seat cushions, and door blind fabric replaced.
