ForumsAnimal HeroesSan Francisco Animal Cops East Anglia bosses, please show nice stories from San Francisco! Happy endings got overlooked and it is now all about vicious dogs for some reason...
Animal Cops San Francisco was filmed by absolutely lovely folks, Paul Fitzgerald and others...And you, for some reason, chose to air the most horrible episodes out of all...Why not show us something more positive, like homeless doggies getting adopted, rescue groups fostering pets up for euthanasia and so on. San Francisco is not only about vicious dogs, it is about ACC helping out pets and prosecuting irresposible owners. Owners are supposed to pay for their pets' attacks and it should be emphasized in the series. You have absolutely amazing material there, so montage the right pieces and let viewers know that ACC is not there to kills dogs but to help them get adopted... It is all about the context!!!!!!!!!!
There should be a balance of the good and bad in the treatment of animals. All of the Animal Heros shows are great educational tools for the general public.
Many people are totally unaware of what happens to pets outside of their home. People are shocked when you tell them how those cute little puppies that are given away as free, end up as bait dogs for the blood training of fighting dogs. Never ever advertise any pet for FREE.
If all the shows did was show the happy warm fuzzie endings, the public would get the impression that everything is okey dokey and there is no problem.
In many cases, people have to be literally hit up side the head to see the real problem. Maybe, just maybe, someone will report animal abuse to the local authorities because they now recognize that abuse is being done; i.e. starvation, lack of shelter, illness with no treatment.
Yes, I cry a few tears at the condition of some of the animals. I lean over and give my two dogs an extra hug, knowing they are safe and sound.
I hope all of the Animal Heros show continue as they are. Putting animal abuse right in our faces where we can decide if we can do something to help.
It is easy to sit in front of the computer monitor and voice an opinion about how bad a group is or is not doing. It would be a great idea if we all got off our butts and went straight to the local shelter and volunteered our time to help the helpless in our community.
I already do that and have found it to be the most rewarding thing I have ever done. After taking pictures of adoptable animals this weekend, I helped show dogs to prospective adopters. Five of those dogs went home to their forever home that day. You can't beat the high you get when you see that dog leave the shelter.
One dog was so cute. He sat in the middle of the back seat, looking straight forward as if to say, LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!!
And you brought a tear to my eyes talking about the dog who was adopted and hopped in the car ready to go HOME! I think it's responsible for the producers of the show to air everything -- the good, the bad and the ugly. That's life. We are a society that is brought up on fairy tales and love happy endings. Who doesn't? Unfortunately it doesn't always work out that way. The way in which we now actually SEE how some people mistreat animals may inspire more people to act.
