Hey guys I'm used to being on the surviving motherhood forum but I cant seem to find it anymore. Anyway, here's my predicament, I have an 11 week old daughter. When I was a baby, my mother got my sisters and I's ears pierced. Now she wants to get my daughter's done. My husband and I have discussed it and his opinion is that if our daughter wants it done, she should get it done herself. I really don't know what to say because it isn't like a tatoo. If she doesn't like earings, she doesn't have to wear them. Yes she will still have the holes but is that really that horrible? My husband absolutely hates earings in my ears because they supposibly get in the way of his chewing. However I kind of appreciate my mother for getting mine done when I don't remember it because I'm so terrified of needles that if I didn't already have them done I wouldn't get them done out of fear. I also can't wear anything but sterling silver or my ears react.
The biggest thing about it all is that we live with my mother and I'm worried that she will just go and do it anyway. We have already expressed our opinions to my mother but she is very, I don't want to say pushy but maybe spiteful is the word? So seeming it doesn't really matter to me but it's a big deal to my husband, how do I prevent my mother from going behind our backs and doing it? Or what do I do if she does? My husband says he will be right ticked off and will never forgive her. How do we continue to live a combined family life if my husband has a grudge against my mother? Confused
