I am one of many people worldwide who is subject to the demands of food allergies. Since the premise of the show is surprise, Curtis will no doubt ignore a request to cook for someone. SO, I instead propose a challenge, which I honestly think he can't handle.
The challenge is this: Find someone who has at least two or more food allergies {such as gluten-free, dairy-free, peanut-free, etc.) and cook a meal which will make them feel normal again! If Curtis is reading this, I dare you to take on the challenge of a restricted medical diet! If you can do it, not only will you have challenged yourself but will show people like me that there are ways to eat like normal!
And if you think it's too hard to find someone with two food allergies, it's not. There's more out there than you may think. Just ask your forum fans; they'll help you find support groups and point you in the right direction.
You are right, I did miss that episode but when I looked it up online, the episode guide said that Tara Strong (I'm assuming we're talking about the same episode, Season 1 Episode 38?) was a kosher vegetarian, the husband liked beer, and I don't know what the food preference was for the kid(s).
Could you fill me in on any allergies? Because a kosher vegetarian doesn't necessarily qualify as having a medical allergy. Having medical allergies like gluten-free and dairy-free along with other family members who are not so restricted but do have preferences, like vegetarian, or standard american diet seems quite a bit more of a stretch/challenge when working with alternative flours and dairy substitutes.
Most chefs do not want to take this on and work with alternative flours -- it's just too difficult for them since the non-gluten flours and dairy substitutes have such hard to work with textures, tastes and qualities. Most chefs just try to make a meal that bypasses using alternative flours or starches so as not to have to deal with it.
I'm so glad somone brought up this topic. Being lactose intolerant, I've always found it challenging to work around the milk based products when trying all these great looking recipes. I've tried to substitute the things I can't have with soy products, but it never comes out right. I would love to see what he can do with a meal for someone like me.
