Hello, I have 2 male cats that are brothers. I have had them for 6 months and they are both 1yr old. They have always gotten along with each other until a stray female cat came around the front porch. Both of my cats started fighting each other. I took them both at the same time and got them neutered the very next day. The day they came home I waited for about 3 hours and tried to let them see each other. The one I call Brutus started hissing and growling at Tigger and I sprayed water at them both to keep a fight from breaking out. I kept them seperated the entire night with Brutus in the back room. I tried again this morning and yet again Brutus did the same and Tigger started yowling back at Brutus this time. My husband sprayed them again with water and Brutus backed down and Tigger went to the other side of the kitchen. I put Tigger in the room this time and let Brutus stay out with us. I am going crazy with seeing them this way and do not know what to do. Can someone please help me with this?

I'm so sorry you're having such a problem! While I am certainly no expert, my thoughts are the following: Since it sounds like this has all happened very recently, within the past week or so, it is very possible that the pre-neuter hormone levels were still raging in your cats when they were having their "issues". Also, the smell of the female is probably still around your house. If they haven't calmed down by this, try something that will get them together but distract them from one another...do they like catnip? If so get them each a toy and allow them to play in the same room with their new toys. Since they got along before the female came along, you know that they are friendly with each other. It just might take some time before the female smell goes away and they start acting normally again. I hope this helps. Good luck!

I have almost the same problem. Except my cats are almost two years old. We have not had them fixed yet, they are indoor cats. We live in a basement apartment and two nights ago there was a cat outside our window. Well, both brothers started attacking each other. We have had to seperate them and it is not easy as we have a very small apt. How are they behaving now? {your cats I mean.} Did having them fixed help now that some time has passed?
