I know my responses will be to see a vet but here we are Friday night again and the only places open are the emergency vet. I spent an astronomical amount on Cloudy a couple of weeks ago and just cannot afford to take her in. My concern is she is lethargic and doesn't appear to be eating anything. Last night she just slept on the bed all night and didn't engage in the cats "four in the morning" playtime. She is normally very playful. Today, she has just been sleeping all day on my son's bed. I keep checking on her and she doesn't feel feverish. I have been forcing her water with a syringe to prevent dehydration. Does anyone have any ideas until Monday when I can get her to our regular vet. I mean, the emergency fees are hundreds of dollars.
so sorry ceddie but them very bad symptoms and more often then not if something is wrong there the sooner the bettter i don't know if you ever ran across my old post that goes into details about my scruffy which i don't want to get into again hurts to bad. but one of the most major reasons i lost him was waited to long to get him to the vet he was acting lethargic and i thought he had distemper and wasn't treatable. by monday coincidently while at work he started bleeding thru his rectum and my friend who i was let stay in upstairs bathroom found him got to vet was to late had uti my vet said was from not enough water probably and all dry food here i go again was so irresponsible hurts so bad i miss him so much. sorry but gonna haunt me forever and should and why i worry so much over my poojum anfd now icky and will do lots better by and why i post here. if you have to wait you have to but be aware what risking but can understand the money thing my friend had to help with scruffy's bill. in the meantime will pray for maddie and you and hope works out ok. best wishes and regards - tim
replied was held by trigger words who knows what words won't ever reply with list so we know them and can avoid. but briefly again if it never shows up or not in timely manor without the big story behind it. would if possible get maddie to the vet as those are very bad symptoms if possible to be safe many times with those symptoms the time before treatment can be the difference between life and them passing on. will pray for maddie and you and hope things work out whichever and best wishes - tim
I brought Maddie to the vet and they aren't sure what the problem is. X-rays showed no foreign object. She has a high fever. They suspect maybe she ingested something toxic. I feel irresponsible because she goes in the garage and oil has leaked from the car onto the cement. I never thought that if she walked in it, she would lick her paws. I hope she is going to pull through. they put her on anti-biotics and injected fluids under her scruff. My poor baby. Tim, I am sorry about your Scruffy, but you didn't know it was that serious. You can't beat yourself up forever. Now you know. Poojums and Icky are lucky to have you. Please pray for Maddie.
please keep us posted about your maddie. I am sure the vet did blood work, this may tell them what is wrong. Also, remember you cannot always tell if a cat has a fever by feeling if they feel hot. By the way, how old is maddie? =^..^=
Finally Maddie is showing signs of improvement. She actually drank some tuna water and seems more alert today. Her temp went down. When the vet took it, it was 105. Her nose feels cool and she seems more comfortable today. Maddie is only three years old. Her x-ray also showed some disk degeneration in her spine. For a cat so young, even the vet was surprised. But she seems to be getting better. Thank you, especially Tim for all your support. You guys are so kind.
So glad to hear Maddie feeling better, hopefully will continue to improve. It is the darndest thing how illnesses seem to pop up around the weekend. My regular vet is costly enough, but the emergency vet is outrageous - still, our little ones health & wellbeing most important - we just do what we think is best at the time with what we have.
When my Sasha was sick my vet told me to give her some Ensure. It is a complete meal and provides necessary nutrients. She loved it and it was the only thing she would eat for a while.
