My cat Aliester has been acting strange for the past week. He's usually extremely playful and mischievous and just as of recent he's been lethargic. He walks for a few seconds and then just sits or lies down. His right hind leg seems to be shaking a bit. We did take him to the vet because he also wasn't eating and drinking as usual. Found out he a SMALL temp and dehydration and we were able to get an antibiotic. Had all the tests (FIV & leukemia-negative there plus other blood test) but no explanation on leg. Is it just behavioral? We did have a birthday party with children. He hid the whole time so we think. Maybe stress. He also lets us hold him for a longer period of time(usually squirmy worm)and hold his hind legs> Should I just wait it out? Any advice will be well received. Thanks!

Danielle

I would try the vet again and explain that he is not being himself that he is limping and it has been going on for a while... Just to be sure it's not serious..hope he's ok.

Did the vet x-ray the leg? Is it possible that he got stepped on from one of the kids?

Thanks! I'm going to take him tomorrow if I don't see a change. I am wondering if maybe he was pulled out from under the bed by his hind legs. Makes me angry if that's the case. I read up a little on Lyme Disease. He's definitely an indoor cat though. Anymore ideas?

Did you ever find out what was wrong? My cat is currently going through the same ordeal and I have been to the vets twice with no real answers.

While we want to give you the information you need to recognize a potentially dangerous disease in your cat, there are some problems that should only be handled by your veterinarian.
