My cats are FIV+ and need a high protein diet so they get Innova.
I wouldnt feed my cats Iams, Science Diet, or Eukenuba if you paid me, and my fosters come with Science Diet....what they put in the food is absolutely nasty
I feed my cats Science Diet dry food (free feeding) they get a little canned Friskies each day. They get different kinds of other cat foods put in their treat balls. That is in case of an emergency some day they won't be so finicky they will think "mom's giving us treats for lunch". I just tried this new dry food called The Good Life Recipe. It doesn't have any perservatives or artificial flavors and no fillers. Has ingredients like real salmon, brown rice and garden greens. My cats love it. I really don't know anything about it. My cats just had their vet check and shots and they are in great shape. My cats love their vegetables like romaine, red cabbage, slivered brocoli and carrots. Gabby loves pea pods. They also love granny smith apple slivers and pears. My friend feeds her cats purina cat chow dry and friskies canned food and they are living into their 20's. I encourage my cats to drink a lot of water by providing them with fresh cold water throughout the day. My cats have a fountain and they love the running water. I keep it fresh and cool because they like it that way. We have playtime at least once a day to encourage exercise. My cats being big cats anyway 12+ And 13+ pounds (no fat on them) need to stay in shape.
Look at the ingredients on the bag. By products means heads, feet and intestines. Meal means real meat. Ground yellow corn is used for carbohydrates and is indigestible, corn gluten meal is for carbohydrates and is digestible. One of the best, in my opinion, is Nutro. They have 2 choices, Max for fussy cats and Natural Choice for complete care.
I HAVE 2 older cat and WE JUST GOT A KITTEN MY VET GIVE US PRO PLAND WEIGHT MANAGEMENT FORMULA FOR OUR OLDER CATS AND PRO PLAN FOR KITTEN THIS IS MADE BY PURINA

We feed our kitties Wal-Mart Special Kitty in the Blue Bag and it has the heart shapes in it, too. I'm wondering if Special Kitty is Purina Cat Chow in a Special Kitty bag....Hhhmmmm.... BTW, my kitties LOVE it too!!!
I feed my 2 kitties Royal Canin---VERY EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! 30dollars for a 7lb bag. And I feed my rottie Royal Canin dog food. My Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and my German Shorthaired Pointer eat Eukanuba
With all terror of tainted food, I can't tell you how relieved we were that NONE of the food we've ever fed our cats were on the recall list.
We have no choice but to free feed. Jeffrey gets Purina Urinary Tract Health which he only eats sometimes. That's why he needs his daily Methigel.
The 4 kittens get Purina Kitten Chow. Daisy the mom also got that when she was nursing.
The rest get Purina Indoor Formula and sometimes a little Meow Mix. I've gotten the samples of the Naturals and may try that.
In the mornings, the kittens and mom share a can of 9Lives. In the evenings we have a whole little ritual. First I feed a can of 9Lives to Mom and the kittens. They free feed for the day. I call out "come on babies" and they all run to "their room" for dinner. I close the door so the others won't eat their food. Then I give a can of 9Lives to last years batch of 3. Just one because they are all a bit chubby. Their call is "yummy dinner" and they charge off to "their room". The other 8 share 3 cans of 9Lives in the main part of the house.
We bring in fresh cut grass a couple times a week. They love it. I used to grow grass in pots but they wanted to dig and the mess got to be too much.
I give the outside stray cats/raccoons Special Kitty.
My one of my cat's was little he got a kidney stone and the vet perscribed him the science diet and he won't eat anything else. Since he and his sister eat together they both have to eat the science diet and the haven't gained or lost and weight and the vet is plaeased with their results.

ME TOO THE ABSOLUTLY LOVE IT AND IT IS IN EXPENSIVE
Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul. It's not too pricey but is very high quality.
If you can buy it at walmart, it is horrible quality and no good for your animal. IMO, people that feed their pets cheap junk from walmart, shouldn't have pets.
That has to be one of the most ignorant things I've ever heard. Surely you've insulted almost everyone on this board.
After you've nursed and brought a cat back from near death from FeLV and kept it alive for 3 1/2 yrs and after you've kept a diabetic dog alive with 2 insulin shots a day for 7 1/2 years, then you MIGHT be able to talk to me about who should own pets and who shouldn't.
I don't work for Walmart, but I do know the person who works in the pet dept. there. She loves and cares for her pets just as much as you or I do. When the first item on the "bad food list" came out, she was out there pulling items off the shelf; telling people not to buy.
I'm so stunned by your offhanded insult of everyone here, I just don't know what else to say. My vet thinks I'm a good buddy to my pets and yet you say I shouldn't own one. Who should I listen to?

telleyshy, I dont think scurvy was talking about you. she was just stating that walmart type food is no good. sure she could of said it in a nicer way, but that was her opinion.
