My nine-year-old Tri color cat died yesterday morning at around ten o'clock. Her name was Little Bit, because she was a "little bit of every color." I've had pets die before, but never one that I'd had for nine years. The funny thing is, she was perfectly fine that morning. She ate her breakfast just like she always does and then went into my bedroom, and I came in to get dressed and reached over to pet her . . .

Anyway, I miss her terribly, and I don't know how I'm going to get on without her. I still have six other cats, but none of them can possibly replace her.

If anyone else has lost one of their pets, Id love to hear what helped you get over it. I think it would help me get through this horrible time. Thanks.

2 years ago, we had to put our 15 1/2 year old cat, Jessie, down due to congestive heart failure. It was sad, and, like you said, no cat could replace her. But, your cat still watches over you and she'd want you to be happy. Do it for her. You'll never forget her, and she knows that. And remember-she is always beside you at night and everywhere you go. Good luck!
P.S> Love her name-very creative. My cat's name is Prince Joshenheimer!>^..^<

I understand your pain since I lost my 16 1/2 year old cat that i called midnight on Janurary 20th 2007. losing a pet is hard but you always have memories. For me it was even harder to lose midnight because I cant have children so I have to love all my pets as children. Its going to take time to heal from your lose but you can always remember the happy times you shared. I hope you know that your not alone. miss kitty

It's a hard thing to deal with. 2 years ago, my 8 year old cat Esther died of kidney failure.

It helped me to talk about it to family and friends and to hug my other kitty and talk to her about it.

I don't want to come across as someone who's trying to push her views or anything, but it helped me a lot to think of Esther in Heaven, being able to play and have fun, playing with other pets who passed away when I was a kid. It helped to think of her going on somewhere.

It does take time. Eventually, it's more about remembering the good times then hurting because she's not there now. But even now, sometimes when I think about Esther, I get teary.

Take it easy on yourself, and remember, not everyone will understand what you're going through. People don't always understand how a cat can somehow become part of your family and have a piece of your heart.

I am sorry for all your losses, I also know what it is like to lose a pet you love.

There is no "formula" to help you get over the loss of a pet. You just have to grieve and cry your tears and try to remember the good time and all the love you shared with your pet.

There are some poems I have put up in the
"In Memory Of" thread in honor of my 2 cats that died. I post additional ones on occasion.
I hope they help you feel better.
