Hey guys! I have an eight week old kitten (not my first cat), and he only eats Kitten Chow (Purina) and water. No milk or soft cat food. For some reason, his feces are extraordinarily smelly! And his flatulence is as well. Could there be something wrong? Is he eating the wrong food? He also uses the bathroom a LOT, with feces production about 3 or 4 times per day. I can't have a kitten poo-smelling apartment! Can anyone shed any light on this for me? I also just found out I was pregnant, so could the kitten be dangerous for my developing baby?
First of all the food is very important. The first 5 ingredients should not be corn meal or any other fillers they are very hard to digest. they instead should be meat products or rice. With good food you also feed less and they poop less. That could be the reason for the smelly poop, frequency and gas.... Purina is not very good food. Also with some kittens until they get their digestive track straightened out they can be that way too. What was he eating prior to you having him. If the food was different than what your feeding right now that also could be the issue. check with the vet about the health of yourself as to cat litter is an issue.
