I got this idea form another forum I'm on, what shows on Animal Planet do you DISLIKE (animals shows on any discovery channels will work)

Some other views quoting to show these are not my statements just other views:

"I saw that same pet finder show. I was so mad that they even gave that family another pet. That woman was crazy she kept asking for a baby tiger and she was serious. The look on her face when they gave her option between the three dogs was total disappointment.

Yes the dog they chose was a pit mix. and one of the other options was also a pit bull. I was angry that they never discussed DA with this family seeing how they already had two dogs in the house. If you caught the end they were complaining that the dog was getting into the house and setting off the alarm while they were gone. This tells me they keep their dogs together outside unsupervised when they are not home. Why in the world would someone put a pit bull or pit mix into this situation. On a happier note is said that "Tara" the pit bull that they did not choose had found a home, lets hope they were a bit more picky with whom they placed her."

"You'd think a channel that is for and about animals would do a better job with actual knowledge of animals. Knowledge of breeds, knowledge about how and with who to place animals...

Have you ever seen the show "That's my Baby"? Sometimes it's about zoo or farm animals, sometimes it's about pets. I've never seen a pet based one with a responsible breeder. It's always some person with a dog who wants to breed just to "have puppies" or because their dog is so great and they want to make more like him.

Once they did one on a family with a regular mutt cat who wanted to show their kids the miracle of birth.

You'd think a channel that is focused on helping animals would know better than to spotlight positively people who do this stuff."

Okay me again.

That's my baby, I thought back to it because they had this one episode where they bred their dog because the ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR told her to. I can't remember what breed it was. It was absolutely ridiculous.

I was also in petsmart the other day and animal planet had produced a book on designer dogs and it was absolutely written by someone condoning the STUPID fad. They were talking about hybrid vigour which applies to different SPECIES not breeds argh.

I have never seen the Pet Finder show. And it's been a while since i've watched That's My Baby. But you have a very good point.

Another show I dislike is Planet's Funniest Animals. Some of the dogs they show on there are neurotic! It's not funny that they're attacking their own legs, it's just incredibly sad.

I took a look and read an excerpt of that Designer breed book online. I have to agree, Animal Planet is allowing someone to write and sell this? Animal Planet may have the wildlife part of the animal kingdom down, but there a few things they need to learn about everyday pets.

On petfinder they also tell you not to hug your dog as "it makes them feel dominated" I'll have to tell all those trainer's and my dogs that hugging is bad.

Sounds to me like poor puppy exposure, any dog I own I make sure will tolerate everything from touching the feet to a hand in their mouth.

And yes I also hate Planet's Funniest Animals, no your dog growling and snapping as you try to take a bone from it is NOT funny. It's TERRIBLE behaviour they encourage as funny and cute.

Animal planet lakes ethics and a backbone for most of their shows.

I wonder if it's a matter of them simply just not knowing, or if they are fans of programing absolute crap that "real" animals lovers and advocates hate.

It's probably just the people that watch it. How many responsible breeders would star on That's My Baby? They take what they can get and as long as the rating are good, what do they care?

I just don't understand how you can run all these ads to save he shelter animals, run all these shows Saaaave the shelter animals and THEN produce a book PRAISING designer dogs and highly incorect information AND have shows that encourage bad habits like BYB "just once before they're fixed" litters "just cuz" litters.

It's like the most hypocritical jumbling of programs ever >_>. Win money from your funny misbehaving animals but wait don't let your animals misbehave. Rescue from shelters, don't breed or wait here's some cute puppies from this lady who thinks he dogs are thhheeeee best.

I don't think much can be done about the shows. But can we e-mail Animal Planet and complain about the book? There're supposed to be setting an example for dog owners and lovers, they don't need to have a book like that out.

I believe I saw a "That's My Baby" with Danes, once. This was a LONG time ago. The episode was about a litter that was going to be sold... but it was bred for 1 Service Dog. I was "comme ci, comme ca" about that episode. I can't remember what the parents were, though.

(Oh, but I love E-Vets and Animal Cops. Very addicting. I liked PET STAR. I met Mario Lopez at a convention and he signed a frisby for Gatsby... that some moron stole. I also met Dr. Fitzgerald at a seminar in Akron, OH.)

As the story goes, As long as you are talking about the show, it will remain on the air because you watched it or are watching it. That is what the sponsors want to know.
If the show is bad do not watch it.
Sorry for being blunt but, I agree with some of the posts. Get bad programming off the air by not watching it.

I don't watch it. this was literally years ago i so that episode but it was brought up on another forum and it brought it to mind since obviously they still show re-runs.

I like some of the animal cops for instance but not all of them. Like the places that connect fighting pitbulls with human aggression and state because they've been fought the can not be rehabbed and are too dangerous to place in homes.

Yet another in the same series different place takes in fighting pitbulls and evaluates them often putting them in homes because they CAN be placed. There is no connection between human and dog aggression. And just because a dog is scarred from being fought does not mean it can't be people friendly.

I know!! I hate it when they say, "we wont give up, well do our best to save the animal" and they end up giving up and not even trying to turn the animal into a loving pet. and I hate that stupid food agression test. why can't they just try to show them that they don't have to be agressive? and why don't they find them a home with someone who knows how to take care of them? lots of people have dogs with food agression, and they don't just go and euthanise
the dog. they try to train it. and THAT'S what animal cops should do.

I love petstar too! it's soo cute! but I hate when people do gross stuff, like spiting water out and letting their dogs catch it in their mouths. or when this creepy lady was letting her rats help her get ready, and she put one of the rats head in her mouth! that was SICK! the rats didn't even do anything!!

I agree these are dogs that are likely to not have had much human contact and often have to fight for food. If someone stuck their hand in my food i would growl at them too!

They say of small children etc etc. how hard is it to say single animal home, no small children etc?

They do it on petfinder all the time.
