Hi everybody!!

I have a 7 months old cocker spaniel/cavalier king charles dog. We potty trained him and he is allowed to walk around the apartment, even when we're not around.

I am a teacher, so I used to go to work early in the morning. At 6am I used to feed him, take him outside (usually just #1) and then back to the house until I came back from work (around 4pm) and the dog behaved perfectly and hold it until I was back.

Now, my school year is over and even though I still take him outside, he's asking me to go out every hour or so, but if I take him outside he's just playing around. I take him at his usually afternoon hour to his usual place to go potty and he doesn't go.

I take him out early in the morning and leave for college for two hours and for two days in a row he has gone #2 on the carpet.

I am getting really confused and frustrated with the poor dog, what can I do?? I live in an apartment, so taking him outside every hour is kind of challenging... sometimes he asks to go out at 1 or 2 in the morning... help!!!

you should crate train him. and when you leave put him in his crate. that way he cant pee on the carpet.

maybe he wants to go out cause he doesn't get enough exercice...
and i think you should crate train him too. but instead of putting him in his crate, you can get one of those tie-out leashes that is long enough to move around, but not to go on the carpet
