We got our dogs Max and Murphy from the pound. Two more lives were saved from there. We got our cat Piper from this man who just happened to be giving away a lot of cats. Our cat Cleo is Piper's kitten and she's about five years old now. I got my fish from my aunt, all except 2 which came from a pet store.
We learn from our mistakes. Yes Corgi is from a Pet Shop.. Will I get another dog from a pet shop, never. I will be looking at local pounds or rescue groups next time.. If it was not for the minor medical and skeletal issues that are common for the PWC's I probably would not have become as informed on the other better options then pet shop.. I will definately advise anyone to avoid them if at all possible...

Anyway, to clarify things, The special petstore is actually more of an adoption center. They take unwanted, abandoned, abused and neglected animals, rehabilitate them and adopt them out to special homes only. Potential owners are evaluated first to make sure they will provide a good home.
The Farm supply store is a feed store that supplies large bags of horse feed, pig feed and other large animal feed and also rabbit food, guinea pig food and wild bird seed.
Our first dog, a cocker came from a backyard breeder before anyone knew what a backyard breeder was.
Until we got into purebreds many years later, the rest of our pets were rescues and strays that found us. A chihauha, GSD, beagle mix, collie...
Our first GSP came from a hunter-who'd bred his hunting dog. By that time I'd been studying pedigrees for over a year and the guy didn't know what great puppies he had until we told him. We were thrilled to death to pay him the $100 he was asking for the pup.
I got my dog from a breeder in new york (We live in CA), i also got my kitty from a breeder, (His name is chloe because the breeder told us he was a girl) and i got my desert tortoise from a friend who found him in his backyard, and my hermit crabs from this reptile shop.
Adopted my cat from the humane society. My dog, Pagan, came as a puppy from a breeder. Earl came from the same breeder at two years old after being returned by a family who no longer wanted him. My leopard gecko came from a breeder at a reptile show.
