Evry time my brothers dog maggie comes into the room or we pay any attention to her my dog annie tears into her and maggie has a hole in her side its starting to heal but my mom said that im gonna have to get rid of annie if she dont stop.

What types of dogs are these? Does your brothers dog live at the house as well?

yes they both live at the same house my dog annie is an austrialian sheperd(dont know if thats how u spell it)my brothers dog maggie is a beagle and cocker spaniel.

It sounds like to me Annie is challenging for top dog in the house. This is a very strange behavior for a aussie though.. let me think on this. Both animals are spayed/neutered right?

annie isnt but maggie is its weird though annie just tears into maggie and maggie dont even fight back she just sits there and lets it happen! annie has always been very pertective over me cuz she knows shes my dog so i think she might get jealous when i pay attention to maggie?? maybe or maybe not!

No- this is a dominance thing, but very unusual.. I will be back... I wish I could meet the dogs- that would help a ton here!

Tell me about your eye contact. Do you look at Annie when you pet maggie? .. etc.. If you stare at Annie- does she look away???

i dont mean 2 be nosey or anything but r u a special person or just some1 who knows alot about dogs?? i dont mean special as in retarted either i mean some1 who has studied dogs and their behavior!

I have a licensed dog trainer for over 30 years. I want to help not just as a devote Christian but I would hate to see a dog placed in another home when the answer maybe really obvious. I am crikkets on aol aim, and crikkets04 on yahoo aim.. we can talk better that way then this forum..

when i pet maggie i dont usually look at annie unless im trying 2 see if shes gonna come and attack maggie. no if i stare at annie she dont look away she starts 2 wynne and she comes and licks me

Annie is insecure. This can be solved quickly but you need to be consistant. For the next two weeks, if both dogs are in the room, pet neither. We are going to number one clicker train both, and number two, you are going to show Annie you are boss... Take the dogs seperately for this training. Sit the dog- click and treat, sit and click and treat. call the dog to you, say " sit" click and treat.. Work the dogs seperatly. MAKE SURE THIS WHOLE TIME, WHEN THEY ARE TOGETHER DO NOT PET EITHER DOG! Now with annie- teach " down". click and treat. Use the command " good girl- down" click and treat... Tell your mother to contact me, this is not a problem that can not be resolved.. After about a week.. put the dogs together as normal. When you pet maggie- tell annie down- click and treat ( I use cheerios), tell maggie sit.. Both dogs will quickly realize you are the boss. Also- herding breeds watch their protective sheep/people. When you are with Annie, and she looks away- click and treat.. Looking away is the dog sign for " ignore this, and I accept what you are doing.." This should take less than a week to fix. Meanwhile- DO NOT PET EITHER DOG IF YOU ARE THE ONE DOING THE PETTING. This is actually a easy fix- and you are source- I know you can do it... and keep peace in the family!

And- NEVER pet annie when she wines! Ignore her completely!!!!!! and if she bops your hand to be petted tell her no calmly and ignore her.

thats great advice but where do i get a clicker?? and my mom doesnt know that im a member on here and that i been asking 4 help with the dogs shes scared that im gonna get kidnapped or something so i have 2 show her this all(what we have been talkin bout) so she gets it and if she agrees then ill try it i agree and would be willing 2 try!!
