HI, I AM NEW TO THIS. I HAVE A PEE-POO WHO IS 7 MONTHS OLD(GIRL). AND I HAVE A POM WHO IS 1 YEARS OLD(MALE). ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO MY GRANDSON FOUND THEM MATING. I GOT THEM APART THE FIRST TIME. SO I LOCKED MY MALE UP. I LET HIM OUT TO USE THE BATHROOM, PUT HIM BACK IN HIS CAGE. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS, THINKING IT WAS OVER WITH THIS HEAT. I LET HIM OUT AND THEY PLAYED WITH NOTHING HAPPENING.IT SEEMED OK, UNTIL I WENT TO BED AND WOKE UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND THE WERE TOGETHER. MY QUESTION IS COULD SHE BE PRENANT? SHES ONLY 7 MONTHS OLD.SHE DID HAVE HER PERIOD. HER VET SAID NO, BUT I REALLY DONT KNOW. MY SISTER SAYS YES. PLEASE HELP. Confused

If they "locked" (got stuck together) chances are she's pregnant. I'd definetly look into getting your boy neutered and getting your female spayed ASAP. If you dont want pups a spay is possible now. I would be concerned about your female's age and if you choose to let her have the pups watch her very closely. Young (less than 2 years) moms can sometimes not be as attentive to pups as they should. Young dogs can also have serious complications with pregnancy. Whatever you choose to do please let us know.

I agree with lennonthegreatdane. Get them both fixed now. Your female is too young to have pups safely. And there are too many dogs in shelters that don't have homes. To bring more in would be taking the shelter dog's homes, therefore the shelter dogs would be euthanized.

If you do decide to continue with the litter, I would find a new vet. For them to say it's not possible is ridiculous. Get all the information you can on raising them, especially with a young mom. And find homes for them while she is still pregnant, that way you don't have to worry about not having homes. Screen the potential owners, and put a spay/neuter contract on ALL of the puppies. Then get your female spayed (and the male if you haven't already) Fixing the dogs have numerous health benefits, and it of course keeps them from having more unplanned puppies.

BUT IF SHE IS I WILL SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO TO MAKE HER NOT HAVE THEM. BECAUSE SHE IS VERY YOUNG TO HAVE PUPPIES. THANK YOU AGAIN.I WILL LET ALL OF YOU KNOW THE OUT COME Smile

The only way to keep her from having the pups is to spay her ASAP. No vet is going to be able to tell you if she's pregnant or not for atleast 4 weeks. At 4 weeks they can do an ultrasound to see or at 45 days they can do an x-ray. Normal gestation is 63 days for a dogs pregnancy.

Yes, please get your dogs spayed and neutered immediately.

There is a shot that could be given, but I'm not sure if it's too late. It also has a lot of side effects, and if it were me I'd spay her anyways.

The odds of complications for mother and pups is tremendously increased because she is so young.

The humane thing to do would be to have her spayed immediatly rather than waiting the 28 days to have her palpated by the vet.

i found my dog as a stray and she was 1 and very pregnant. it is againts my beliefs to end the pregnancy. and she was just a week or so from her due date. but when she had her pups she hardly produced any milk. she had 8 puppy's which we had to bottle feed most the time but you should get her fixed if possible
