I have a yellow lab that's the cutest thing you'll ever see. He realy likes the stuffed animal toys that have squeakers in it but he always seems to rip the squeaker out. Should I keep giving him the toys or stop? Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should give him or what I should do?

My pit mix does that too. It's a pain in the butt because my JRT mix loves little, soft squeaky toys, and then after she's done playing with them, the big dog wrecks them.

I would stop giving him the toys. Some alternative toys I've found that my dogs like are rope bones, kongs with peanut butter and tennis balls.

You could always just take most of the stuffing out and sew it back up. I know a few people that do that. Too much effort for me though. I would just stop giving him the stuffed animals. Just experiment with toys he'd like. I know my aunt's golden loves stuffed animals but he also has lots of tug-of-war type toys like tennis balls attatched to ropes, kongs, etc.

He likes the tug-of-war toys too and tennis balls, but he rips those up too! I don't know what to do with him! I don't want to just take the toys away from him cold turkey!

Get Kongs to him, they won't rip. They have also a version for hard core -playtime, you can't rip those black ones wiht out a machine gun! And if your dogs not interested in them, you can put something good in them, like cheese and then give it a quick spin in the microwave so the cheese melts and he has to really work for it, or freeze something in it. Or you can buy ready pastes for it. And they have Kongs that float, Kongs that glow in dark, frisbee Kongs and so on. There is something for your dog also.

I'd also reccommend Booda bones. They come in various sizes, don't get slimy like rawhide, and don't leave crumbles like some of the other edible chew bones. I had a dog who loved to get that squeaker out of the toy. He became something of a specialist at it, he could dismantle a typical cheap squeaky toy in minutes. It was so much fun for him, I would ocassionally buy one for him just to let him have fun tearing it up.

This is the most durable toy I've found:

She chews it all the time but still has not destroyed it.

If your dog is for ripping toys there are some toys called Rip'ems that have velcro holding on their legs. I have the cow, but seeing as my girls aren't major stuffie destroyers I can't really say how well they hold up.
If your dog likes just trying to get the squeakers, try Egg Babies. They have b'alls with squeakers inside of them that you put in the toy, and that way when they get the squeaky b'all out, their mission will be done. Hopefully. I know that this worked on a dog I know.
Other than those, black Kongs, Pup Treads, and the toys made out of canvas stuff (I think some are called Bad Kat or something similar, but they hold up well).

I've bought lots of toys for my golden retriever puppy, fun ones too, and right now I'm listening to her play with an empty milk jug Roll Eyes . Good thing I didn't spend THAT much money on dog toys... now I know I can just give her milk jugs and she's off to the races.

lol. Throw some kibble in the milk jug to keep her amused even longer. I wish I could be as easily amused as dogs. Roll Eyes

Exactly. She'll get into everything, and I watch her very closly, I have to put her on a leash in my fenced backyard so she won't eat any clam shells( I have no idea how they get there, I pick the shells up whenever I can, but there always is one that I miss and she finds), but I was measuring food in a plastic cup with tick marks on it to measure how much kibble to put in her food bowl, and I guess I was careless in putting the cup away because she got to the cup, and seeing that it tasted like kibble, she was bouncing around the house trying to get to the very bottom of the cup. It was very amusing, to say the least. But hey, she's a new puppy, and like a new baby, as my friend would say, it'd probably be exciting for her to drool Roll Eyes .I'll try the kibble in the jug idea tommorow when she's not zonked out and sprawled out in the middle of the kitchen floor sleeping. Which reminds me, happy Easter everyone in advance!
