I think they'd make a TERRIBLE pet. The entire meerkat life goes against them being a good pet. They live in huge burrow systems.
They'd go crazy trying to dig up your house to make a suitable home plus they'd probably be very unhappy unless there was a number of them living together.
I think any wild animal would make a terrible pet.. they are not meant to be in peoples homes they are meant to be outside and free. That is why they are called wild and not domestic.

No animal is domestic. They can only be "domesticated". We have bred animals to be this way but no animal starts off domesticated.
Mattavina, I think that's what iluvmychessie meant.
But yeah, I can't imagine keeping one as a pet. They would drive me absolutely insane. They're cute from a distance. But they're better off where they are. And you'd have to have more then one. Oh, and your house would get torn apart. And they'd escape. I'll stick with dogs.
