Hello. My name is Kristen and I'm the proud owner of 3 Great Danes. Unfortunately, we've outgrown our 2 bedroom apartment. We're currently looking for a place to rent. Has anyone ever had any luck or experience renting a home with giant breed dogs before? (They're wonderful apartment dogs and we have an extremely active lifestyle, so they're always tired and happy. It's just that my family is growing and we need more space!)
That all depends on the area you live in and the renter. Some renters are strict about what kind of dogs live in their houses as they don't want dogs tearing the place up. Others, won't mind at all.
All the exercise is great for them! They'll be calmer and more well behaved. Good luck!
Right now, the apartment we live in is letting Dane #3 slide, as we're one of the few people in the complex that actually cleans up their poop.
We're now looking for a 3 bedroom home to rent. We may look into rent to own, if we must. We were going to buy, but our credit isn't well enough established.
I've lived in my two bedroom for two years. I moved in with Gatsby and a litter of 8 puppies, and the only damage to the apartment is normal wear and tear on the apartment. They won't even have to clean it, as my wife's father cleans carpets.
I have extremely well behaved dogs, and just because they're on the large size, we're having trouble finding a house.
Unfortunately, we don't have enough credit to buy a loan, and because two of our bills were a few days late, we're null and void for an FHA loan until a year after the date that they were late. Talk about a load of poop.
Hopefully we can find a nice rental or rent to own. We don't really want to stay in this itty-bitty place for another year.
That's unfortunate. Credit is a load of bull sometimes. It's so important to play it safe, but we all know sh*t happens.
I'm lucky enough to have a home with a fenced yard for my four dogs, and my parents have a large ranch in the country that we go to often. Otherwise, my dogs are mega couch potatoes.
My mother is offering me her home, but she won't be moving out of it for quite some time. It's a four bedroom with a fenced in back yard, and it's in a small, rural town. I actually grew up there. I'm all for it... but we need something now.
It's amazing how just because one person screws up with their animals, the rest have to suffer.
My mother has my 3 brothers and sisters in her house (and my moronic step-dad), as well as three dogs and two cats of her own. There's no place for my wife, our two year old (who's asthmatic and extremely allergic to cats), us, the dogs, and our other critters to fit... or I'd go for it. Our lease isn't up until November, so we've got a bit to look. And, if we don't find a place, we can stay here for another year. It just gets frustrating at times.
