Look ,I am the Queen of stupid! Lets nip that in the bud right now. Big Grin However I am curious about that too. There is some stuff in water I think that is good for us. Im not sure where I got that from. Bottle water is more pleasing to me. I will find that one out and get back to you ,please share what you know. Piddle

I don't use bottled water exactly, but I don't give them straight tap water either. I have three 1 gallon jugs. 1 is always in the refridgerator, and the other 2 sit out for at least 48 hrs. I don't drink water right out of the tap, so why should the dogs have to. I use 1 of the jugs to water the plants with too.

I have given my dogs Deer Park for years. It started because when I lived near the city, I couldnt stand the taste of chlorine. I also use it because if I ever go any where, as you know a change in water will cause an upset stomach really fast. Now out in the country, even though the chlorine is gone, I was concerned about lyme. ( no we dont have any as I found out) but meanwhile, my older ones will only drink the deer park. I have to be the only person with a 5 gallon cooler that is mostly for the dogs.. lol..

Hey I think that is great what you are doing for your dogs. I still haven't checked on the vet. She would know, but with out mentioning it to her, I have a ice maker in my fridge and I allways put some in their water. They love it and so do I. I had trouble getting them to drink at one time, some don't realise how important water is for animals, just like us. I started the ice thing and they can't get enough.
My neighbor said her old fat kitty didnt drink water, She said that the food she ate had enough
water in it. Well, I call her Mamma Kitty ,she went out side and tasted some of the water I had outside for the stray cats and you would be surprised. That cat drank and drank. I think this is a good post and I too am looking forward to all of the feed back! piddle

I think you're right about that. Even though my b/f had water for his cats for some reason they would only drink out of the toilet after it was flushed. Either they didn't like their water bowl, or they didn't like tap water. But ever since I got the dogs and basically started dechlorinating their water, the cats will drink out of it, and not out of the toilet.

The fascination with toilet water, is that it is colder. I just put a ice cube in mine once in a while. Except for the puppy, who- I swear will retrieve anything- they seem to enjoy it. If the ice maker goes off- they will come check the water bowl... lol...

Why do we have to have clorine in our tap water?
I think its some floride in it too ,Not sure.,
Any one know right off hand? And is it anyway to de clorine the tap water? Piddle One thing my Vet did tell me long ago is to feed and water puddin out of a glass or stainless steel bowl.
I took her in because she had yuky bumpy, dark
looking things on and under her chin. She said don't feed her in plastic at all. I never knew this ,but it seems to work. Also as we all know to keep the water bowls and food bowls clean daily and it wouldnt hurt to clean them twice a day. Piddle

Plastic bowls, especially food bowls should be replaced every 6 months. The chemicals and preservatives absorb from the kibble and canned diets. The fat in the canned can soak in as well. I use ceremic bowls, made in the US because of the glaze used by foreigh countries can have the same effect as lead in children. I like stainless steel, but my dogs are too big for them to stay put... lol.. And my younger dog thinks they might be a good freezbe..

Yeah, mine are all stainless steel because I read that they were the best to use. Although my dogs bowls don't go too far because they're tiny. Smile

I agree the screen name mentioned could be a
bit more woodsy or nature like . I won't say what Piddle means. Maybe one day! Big Grin, Thanks for
the tip on throwing away the dog dish, I never knew that. Now I can tell my vet something new!
Piddle

I might change it one of these days. And Borzoimom, sorry about the other day on AIM, I had the dogs out to burn some energy, and then I had to feed them, and then I signed off to play with them again. I might change my name here, but my AIM name will always be the same. It's just grown on me.

We give our dogs bottled spring water lol. We pay for services to have 3 gallon bottles delivered regularly. Our tap water is horrible. And my dog loves ice cubes. I will give her an ice cube in the summer and she takes it like a treat.

Also, worthlessexample (know known as Worthyexample), you can IM me if you want. My AIM screen name is sugerbird (SugErbird, not sugArbird. That wasn't a typo lol)
