I'm just happy to think about my animals, so right now I want to tell you about what's going on with them. Right now Snickers (rabbit) is outside in a really go hutch, but this weekend we're making her play area outside, that's going to be such a HUGE area for Snickers to hop around. I'm still considering when to have Snickers in it, and when Snickers should be in her hutch. My family thinks that there's no animal around here that would bug Snickers; cats would be scared of such a huge rabbit, there's no stray dogs, and anyother animal I asked about they said wouldn't bug Snick or couldn't get in. Twix is in my room, I keep him in the C&C cage, and let him out when I'm there to supervise (my room's not bunny proof). This weekend I'm wanting to bunny proof my room so Twix can always be out. Would Twix be happier outside w/ Snickers or inside my room with free roam of my room? That is, if I get Snickers to like Twix. My mom thinks that Twix would want to be outside with Snickers. Summer's comming up!!!! That means here in a little more than a week, I'm going to start training Pepsi (parakeet) more. I didn't have enough time befor when I tried, but I will this summer. I'm also going to train Cuddles, my dog. G2G, my fav. (almost) shows coming on. bye

OK, last time I posted I got cut off because my show was coming on . Tuesday I'm giving my presentation. I can't bring in an animal from a shelter though because monday is memorial day and there wouldn't be any shelters open . So I don't know, I'm still doing the same thing that I decided: How to Ruduce the Number of Dogs and Cats Killed* Always kee and ID tag on your Dog or Cat *Spay/neuter all your pets, befor they have babies *Do not breed your dog because it's a purebred w/ papers or has championship lines- leave it to the pros *Make a lifetime commitment to your pet *Research what pet is right for you *Do research, research, research on the type of pet your getting befor you get one *Get a pet from a shelter or rescue, NOT A PETSTORE that gets their pets from PUPPYMILLS!!!! -don't support puppymills *Foster a dog or cat, volunteer or donate money or supplies to animal shelters *Fostering a pregnaunt cat or dog is a good option if you want to, or want a family member to experience the merical of birth *Spread the word - let others know the problem of overpopulation of pets, and the many numbers who are dieing without ever having a loving family. - let others know how they can help I'm showing them the video from meowornever to end it, and I'm giving them more info. So, what do you think? Not only about my presentation, but also about what's going on with my animals at home. Also, tell what's going on with your animals? Are you and your animals looking forward to summer like we are?

Hi there! The project sounds like it's going to be good. Only one thing I would add. When getting a pet, make sure EVERYONE in the household agrees on it (within reason..if it's a goldfish in your room or a hamster in your room it doesn't really matter). But say you bring home a kitten and think it's cute, and your mom does too but your dad hates it. And eventually he gets tired of the meowing or something wants to get rid of it. Not a good idea. Or like a post awhile ago when a man got a boxer but the wife wasn't 100% happy about it. (she didn't like the size, and type, and they didn't have the time to take care of it) Then it started causing problems and they were discussing finding it a new home. In short, it's just good to make sure everyone in the home agrees on the type, size, energy level, training and grooming/care requirements for the pet. Then there are less surprises. ------ I think it's great that you built your rabbit an outside play area. We have a pretty tall..about 5ft. wooden fence. It doesn't touch the ground in all places, but it is only up by a couple of inches, so I'm thinking of getting big rocks to put all the way around and then be able to have my bunny Boo loose in the backyard. She can eat my dandelions (we don't use any chemicals on them) I think the yard would also work for the ferrets as long as the rocks are big enough that they can't push them out of the way. As for my ferret story (it is under breed board "lonely ferret"), we found another ferret. A girl, in her 20s I believe, had a 2 year old male that she had his entire life but didn't think that she had enough time to give him and therefor wanted to find a good home for him. So we talked and we didn't have to pay too much (about 100 dollars) for him and got food, toys and his bed too. She was really happy that we had a ferret already so he wouldn't be alone, and that we said it's no problem for her to come visit him, and we will send pictures and stories to her. She also said we could "borrow" him to see if he even got along with our girl. We also thought it would be a good idea to get an older one cause he's already neutered, bite trained, leash trained, etc. So we brought him home yesterday and at first he was biting Galadriel and dragging her by the neck, but this is normal Ferret behavior to establish dominance. As long as they weren't making high pitched sounds like crying, they were ok. Then they spent the whole night together and their both doing well today, so we think it went well So it looks like he'll be permanently joining our family. His name was Mugge ( ) so we decided to change it to Neo, but we won't make her sad by telling her. We also couldn't help but see some baby ferrets and even though we tried to be strong, we couldn't resist and got one too. Another girl, and named her Squirt. She's too little to be with the big ones right now, so she has her own cage right next to them. She hasn't bitten so far, and is really sweet. We also think she's younger than what they told us, but I guess it's better that we take good care of her and also socialize her as much as possible so she doesn't end up a biter and a terror. As for Boo, she's outside right now. It's been really nice, hot weather, so she's been out all day in the shade and seems to enjoy it. And Spirit, she's been having fun smelling the new additions and trying to play with Neo. He, on the other hand just ignores her Galadriel on the platform and Neo checking out the hammock http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/olorielundomiel/6cebf66f.jpgSquirt http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/olorielundomiel/730e3126.jpgBoo ´(my little brother saw this picture and said..I've never seen a bunny with a racing stripe before!) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/olorielundomiel/c8eb60a4.jpgAnother Galadriel shot http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/olorielundomiel/DSC_0001.jpgSpirit (she's tied up cause my parents-in-law have no fence around their yard ) http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/olorielundomiel/e253e8ec.jpgAnd finally, my sister-in-law's Budgie...named Woody. He's getting a bath in the sink, and notice his feathers sticking up? It's from him ducking his head in the stream of water So much fun! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y255/olorielundomiel/3a761cdd.bmp

Nothing specials going on with my two doggles.
But my Siamese has something up. For a while his coat has been in awful condition and then we noticed he's skinnier, so losing weight.
All I have to do at the moment for my other kitty is get him a safty collar with a bell and info capsule. He just killed another squirrel and he's an inside cat.
By the way I'm sure Twix would love being outside. But if you can't get Snickers to accept her then you could just bring her out weekly.
You could try to introduce them on neutral ground(so outside maybe)and if no bloood is drawn then leave them together for some hours. But if they fight bad seperate them. To brake up a fight and not get bitten you can throw a towel over them.
Humping, teeth chattering, butt wagging, light nipping and strutting are normal.
You could make a hutch with a small run(with chicken wire top or something)for while your away and then let her into the huge run while your home and then at night put her in the hutch and/or smaller run. What's your plan?

Thanks for posting your pictures assiespirit; I love looking at pictures . So, you think Twix would rather be outside all the time than inside all the time, laura? Because I'm scared once Twix goes outside, it will ruin him for not peeing on my carpet, so I'd be worried to have Twix in my room. Snickers hutch isn't big enough for two rabbits, well it would be but Snick is the size of THREE. I bunny proofed my room, so I was planning on just have Twix run around in there. Snickers can have his area outside, and maybe at night, put Snickers in her hutch? That's what I'm thinking, but I don't know how nessisary that it. It's gonna be made out of this mesh wire stuff made for kennels, and it goes up 4 ft high. I might just let Snickers always be in there. Would he like or dislike snow in the winter? Don't rabbits like to burro around in snow?

Well since you bunny proofed your room keep Twix in and you can take him out every once in a while for 'feild trip'.
Depends on what kind of coat Snickers has for snow. Pretty thick but short? She may be alright but you'll need to add lots of hay to her hutch and maybe a heating pad of some kind.
She can't dig under the fence, right?

Yeah, I think a bunny is okay in snow and being outside in the winter, but your bunny should have an insulated place to go to get out of the cold. The walls should be insulated, and of course there should also be some bedding to burrow into and the wind/snow should not be able to blow into the house too much. Then I think the bunny would be ok outside with snow

Snickers won't be able to dig under it. She's going to have a doghouse in her area were the play area will be. The dog house is insulated. I'm going to have Snickers in her area from about 7am-6-pm (starting in like a week) and 3pm-7pm until then. I'll take Twix out to visit like for an hour every day or so. Winter's a while away, but when it comes Snickers will be warm, we went through last winter fine, but this next winter she is going to have a heated water bowl so I don't have to change it 5 times a day. I can't wait- we're making the play area today !!! It's going to be so big of an area to; I'm also going to let my dog use it too.

Are you sure she won't be able to dig out? Is the bottome lined with chicken wire a few inches under the dirt? Or some other type of barrier? If there isn't, then there's still the possibility that she can dig out.
I think she'll be fine in the snow. Just as long as she has a nice warm place to be with blankets and such. The insulated doghouse should work fine.
And as for twix, she probably would be happier outside. You know, fresh air, birds and other stuff to watch, all those neat smells. Have you found out wether twix is a boy or girl yet?
And 10x15 is a big enough area for two rabbits, so if twix is a girl, then they can be kept together.

I don't know whether Twix is a boy or girl, but we're thinking boy. Of course, we thought Snickers was a boy, but Snickers is a girl. How do you tell? There are 2 stray cats running around here. I don't think they'll mess with Snickers because she is huge, but I'm worried about Twix. That's why I think that I'll only have Twix in it when I am right there to keep an eye on him, like in there with them. For Snickers, I want to be around, like home, to be able to check on her every so often, but I think Snickers is big enough that someone would be crazy to mess with her; my dog is scared of her, will run away from her. We have a rabbit nest right in front of our picture window!!!! It's so awsome, we have a front seat veiw of it. Two nights ago we watched the tiniest little bunnies ever hop out of it and play around. Then yesterday, we saw the mom sitting on the nest. I really hope the cats that I saw don't get into the nest, that would be too sad. What animals do you guys have, and what their names?

If Twix is a boy and Snickers a girl can't they mate when you put them together outside? If Twix really is a boy you could get Snickers spayed. I think female rabbits are very prone to some sort of mammory cancer..well something bad so it'd be best to spay her. If you trap the strays and find them homes it'd make life easier for all three of you! For the cats to have a real home and you don't have to lie awake at night worrying about Twix(if you put him out). My pets? I've only got two dogs; Bettu and Pilkku and two cats; Tipu and Älli. I'll be getting a hamster in August(woohoo!)!!

Yeah, yesterday I got like a yard from one of them and I was nealing on the ground. He was just sitting staring at me, and I was trying to talk him into coming to me. I didn't want to move in any closer or he would run from me because he has befor. Yeah, so he eventually went the other way, so I went around where he went, but he ran from me again. I've seen speacial cages that catch strays, I might get one. If one of them cats ever decide to come to me and trust me, I might just take 'em to the vet to get 'em fixed and all the shots and that stuff, then see if he would like to be an inside cat (if I could get my dog to agree). I've always wanted a cat since Spot (my old cat) died. That cool that your getting a hamster. I've got one named Storm. I heard they're spreading salmonilla. I think I might take Storm to the vet to get her checked; can you do that I don't know how they would check for it, but I calling about it tommorow.

yes rabbits aculyt love the snow. my old rabbit loved it he would dig tunnles around under it, just make sure you warmb him up about every 15 mins then let him go again, make it reall fun for him scatter corn on the ground or help dig a tunnle and stick carrots in the back, the tunnle will also help keep the heat in and keep him warm!

Yeah, I'm really excited about the hamster. I had one years ago and at first I was planning on adopting a pair of guinea pigs but realized that they're far too expensive to keep and are just not the pets for me. So now I think I'll try a hamster.
I've heard of the salmonella thing too(on another forum). Like you can die from kissing your rodent but I don't believe that. If your hamster(or other pocket pet)is outside or has a dirty cage or maybe you've been in contact with something that might spread it to the rodent then it might happen but otherwise no.
The shelters are gonna be full of abandoned pets because of this.
I think the vet'll do a blood test.
That'd be great if you could take in those cats or just get them into good homes. Try feeding them everyday at the same time and place. It'll be easier with anything concerning them then.
By the way what kind of cage do you have Storm in? She's a Syrian, right?

Oh yeah, and to add on about the aquarium thing, that's like a really good home for a hamster , and it's really easy to take care of. I line the bottom with newspaper, then put bedding ontop of the newspaper. Then when it comes time to clean it, just roll the news paper up and through it away, really simple. I also wip it out with soapy water to keep the smell away and kill bacteria, then wip it with a wet cloth to rinse the soap away. Line the bottom with paper again, and put bedding over the paper.

nothing realy going on here. i am working with my dog trying to get him off-leash, but its not working that well. i just had to put one of my cats to sleep, i am trying to convince my dad into building a fence around the yard. or ast least the front of the yard. i dont care if the back is open, it is all woods, if the front is fenced in he cant get into the road. he doesnt want to,he is lazy. he doesnt want to do anything besides what he realy HAS to do, anything that he can put off-he will for as long as he can. i will just have to keep bugin him to do it.
