If your friend doesn't want a pitt bull; don't argue with her. Not every home is the right home for pitts. I wouldn't have a pitt and I would be extremely upset if a friend of mine tried to talk me into something I didn't want.

In case you think I'm against pitts completely, there are a lot of other breeds I wouldn't want to own either; simply because they wouldn't fit into my lifestyle...

No, I wouldn't do that. She needs to get a dog that she likes, that way they are happy together. If I have to talk her into one she doesn't want, that would be awful.
I have just been giving her suggestions based on what she's telling me she wants. That was one of mine, a pitbull, and I didn't like her respons. She could've just said "no I'm too much of a scardy cat for that type of dog" but she said she'd shoot one just for being a pitbull!!!
I just keep giving her more suggestions though, I'm not going to fight with her about it. I mean, we think a lot differently. There's things important to her that I really don't beleive in, and the same viseversa (I know I said that last word wrong)

If it's going to be an outside dog I really recommend something more independent. Labs strive on human comanionship and want to be in with the family so it'd be cruel to lock him outside to live a lonely solitary life.

Do you think her home would be good for a dog? Does she have enough time for one? Can she afford a proper kennel and run? Does she have any experience? It's her first dog?

She does know to get the pup neutered and to get him at the shelter, right?

I don't know if a puppy would be right if she's at school. A 3-6 y/o would work.

Yeah, that's what I told her about a lab. I don't think she's planing on getting one because she told me that she doesn't want to get one that wouln't be happy. She wants a PUPPY and that shouldn't be a huge problem because she's getting him on the last day of school. I found what I thought would be a really great dog for her at a local animal shelter, she's half australian shepard half terrier, the only problem is that she wants a male. The dog was I forget, like 5-6 months old.
I told her to get her puppy from a shelter, but she says she doesn't know if she will because they're expensive. I've also told her to make sure she has him neutered.
She has a boxer named Rocky that she keeps outside. I don't know if he's neutered or not. I do know that he's never had a bath since they got him years ago.
They live in the country with a bunch of property but no fence or anything. They just let Rocky run around wherever he goes. When ever I'm there, Rocky's laying on the porch.

Here's an email she sent me:
"I want a dog that will obey me to an extent. He should love to be outside and love to be loved. I want a dog that will love me and I want a SOFT fur dog. No ruff stuff. I want a dog that loves other animals. I want it to be hyper too. I want it to be able to learn also."

OK, I just read a really imformative article at this website- I really need to get Snickers spayed, and I should get Twix neutered (but it isn't as important for Twix because he's a male, but it will make him neater)

Anyone had a rabbit spayed befor? How much did it cost for you?

She really doesn't sound like a responsible dog owner.

Where was she planning on getting the pup if not a shelter? Breeders wouldn't sell to her and they'd be expensive. Plus most pet stores sell for hundredds.

If Rockys not neutered try to get her to neuter him. Actually some unaltered males will not allow another dog on their territory. So you can tell her he'll probably kill the pup unless he's neutered(which might be true..).

I don't know about the rabbit issue. You'll need to make sure the vet that does the procedure has done it at least 10 times before and ask about any complications they've had in the past. You'll want one with experience in rabbits. It'll probably come between only 25$-200$.

EekI really hope it's closer to the $25 because I wouldn't be able to afford $200, and my parents wouldn't help me out.

Yeah, she's not. her cats breed, then if her dad thinks they have too many cats, he uses them for target practice.
She looks at animals like objects. I get frustrated with her because she beleive that humans are so much better than other animals, and humans are the only animals with soels. It makes me soo mad!!! I veiw other animals equal to humans.

My other friend. There was a dead skunk on the side of the road Frown, and it's poor little baby just all confused beside her. My friend took the baby home and is taking care of the poor thing. She's taking it to the vet, and I asked her about it, she's going to have that stink sack thing removed. I can't wait to me it!!!!

Maybe your friend shouldnt get a dog. Dogs need a family that is with them all the time and includes them in everything. Usually an inside dog makes for a better pet then and outside dog.

There's no way I'm going to be able to stop her. She's out of school now, and she told me that she's going to be outside with him alot. I think she will, cause she likes to be outside. She's getting one from the local pound.

Poor dog! Especially from the pound. He's been sitting in the pound hoping for a great home then she comes along and he thinks this is a miracle but then she just ignores him and he's left a lonely dog once again. Frown

Can you persuade her to not get a dog?
And to spay/nueter her cats?

Now, she's not that bad of a person. The dog will get plenty of attention from her and she has 3 siblings. There family is an outdoorsy family that's outside more than inside. The dog will have Rocky to play with. And even if she doesn't give the dog plenty of attention (wich she will) I'll be over alot to play with the dog. I'm going to come over to help her train the dog.

I'll have to realy persuade her to spay and neuter all her animals. I'll really try, I promise. IDK if I can do, but you never know. She's a nice person, but she doesn't understand animals that much, so she needs a friend like me. I'll help her out, don't worry.

I'm not getting Snickers spayed. I asked the vet about it, and he didn't recommend it because it's a greater risk to spay rabbits since they don't take anithsetics (or whatever that word is) very well. He said he'd do it if I wanted, but I'd be risky. I'd rather not take that risk.
I am getting them up-to-date on all the shots they need.

Glad your moving her in the right direction and educating her a bit. You could try to find out if one of those free spay/neuter trucks is coming around ever and ask her to bring the cats to it.

Well if the spay procedure is really that risky for rabbits I wouldn't have it done either.

I had to leave real quick yesterday. Basicly, all of my animals are doing great. Except, thismorning I woke up and Storm (my hamster) was fine. But then I went in and checked on her agian like a half hour after I woke up, and there was blood Eek on the side of her mouth running down about 1/2 cm maybe. IDK what to do Confused??? She's acting fine.

False alarm!!! Storm is fine; she must have had something on her mouth or something. It's not there anymore. Big Grin So she's good, nothing wrong. Gosh, that had me worried.

OK, so all my animals are doing great. I'm training Cuddles and Pepsi, they're doing vantasic. I put a divider in the playpen, and Snickers and Twix nose each other. There's these two wild bunnies that come to visit Snickers and Twix; they come right up to the playpen Smile. I brush Snickers every day, she loves it, and I brush Twix as much as I can, he doesn't like it so much. I'm really boding with Snickers and Twix, they love it when I play with them, and when I'm on Twixes side, Snickers is jelous, and on Snickers side, Twix is jelous.
So yeah, I'm happy!!!
And sorry if I don't get on animal planet very much (I busy with other stuff, mainly animals and sports) Wink

Glad to hear everything's going really good with your pets! How many do you have?

What breed is Cuddles?(s/he's a dog, right?)

I'm so excited about my new GP which'll be coming in just a few days. If you haven't heard I'm getting my neighbors guinea pig because they're moving to a smaller house.

My friend from Florida will be visiting next month so we're getting Sofie(GP) a friend together.

I'm lovin' this summer!! Big Grin
