I have two quetsions about dog parks. One is that I'm worried that if another dog has a sickness or disease, which i don't want my dog to get... Also I don't want my dogs getting into a fight! Does that happen often? WEll guess i had more than 2 ques. LOL Okay do you have to pay to get in usually? Do they allow dog that aren't... well behaved? THank you
This would depend on the individual park. I have heard a lot of bad things about certain dog parks, but the one I go to is great. I would look for one that requires vaccines, proper licensing and non-aggressive dogs. Some parks have more supervision and restrictions than others. Some parks are free and others require a permit. The one I go to is a county park and requires either a day pass or an annual permit. I have never encountered a really aggressive dog at the park. I have witnessed small fights, but nothing serious. I would stay away from a park where you see a lot of dog fights and aggression.
The park I go to is well maintained, clean and seems to have well cared for dogs. I love it and credit the park for helping to make my dog non-aggressive and well socialized.
The one dog park that is in my area has responsible dog owners (for the most part anyways). The dogs are healthy and well behaved. Fights are rare, and it is absolutely free.
But I live in Massachusetts; so I don't know how it would be for you. I say give it a try, and if you don't like it you do not have to go.
I've never known a dog park to be "unsafe". So you shouldn't be too worried about bringing your dog along. Sicknesses rarely spread from dogs to other dogs and even more rare that it will be more serious than a small cold. Most known dog diseases aren't contagious, and I don't think a mere minute or two with another dog will be enough to spread it that quickly. And, I've never seen a dog fight, especially in a local park. It's pretty uncommon.. most people keep their dogs on a leash, and usually only take them off if there well-behaved. But just to be on the safe side you could try avoiding what may seem active, or fiesty. As for paying, it varies. The dog parks I go to are free, but never more than a few dollars or two. And very, very rarely over $3. They usually don't mind if your dog is well behaved or not, its probably recomended that you keep your dog under control but other than that you should be fine. I wish you the best of luck. I hope I was of help to you.
Well personaly to me I think dog parks are okay. I don't hear people saying their dog got hurt at a dog park before. I also don't think you have to pay to get inside either
Depends ont he dog park really. Differnt people go to differnt dog parks. The one I frequent i go to at the same time evry day. So I have gotten to know the regulars over the last few years. So I always have a positive outcome. Dog fights at our park are very rare. I dont worry to much about disease. My dog is UTD on all shots. There isnt much he can catch from the dog park where he could easilyc atch aswell on a walk in the neighboorhood. A clean park is a safe one.Our park is 1000's of acres, it borders 4 towns and is all differnt types of park in one but dogs are allowed off leash, and there is one spot designated strictly for pets. I would go and scope it out. Aslong as your dogs are good with other dogs I would try it out when it would be the least busy to see how it goes.
