My Dad was one of the first reciepents of the gastric bypass about 30 years ago in Denver, CO with a Dr. Bundy. Back then it was experimental and saved his life as he was only expected to live 6 more months what with his bp being unreadable, not to mention other difficulties. He's had so many complications over the years, many repairs, rerouting of his digestion system, scar tissue removed, etc., that he has now run out of options. Currently, he has a hernia that makes him look as though he is 9 months pregnant. He wears 2 bands around his stomach for support, but there are times then the intestines still try to come through the opening. Drs. in Kansas City won't touch him due to Diabetes, High BP, family history of Congestive Heart Failure so he has been allowed high dosages of pain meds to get through his day. Not my idea of a quality of life. It would be nice if you could consider helping him... for being 66, he still has a lot of life and has worked so hard all of his life. He deserves so much better.
