I'm going to be on the show (just found out which episode, so I'm excited!), so I may be biased, but I think the first episode was wonderful! I liked it very much, and applaud the work done to put it all together! I look forward to seeing how the rest of the show unfolds!

It's great to see the Dr's, Patients AND Producers frequenting this forum. It's a great show. If you have a need for a 500# Country Singer on the show, let me know!! Because I would surely like to be a 250# Country Singer again. lol guy@guynix.com http://www.guynix.com http://www.myspace.com/guynix
PS: I'll wear a sponsors clothing/logo on stage, logo on my trailer/banner's, write/sing company 'jingle' etc.. In trade for this surgery.
Thanks to you guys for producing this show. Also, thanks for having Mary Jo on the show to present the importance of the psychological issues. People always say that the key to lose or maintain weight loss, is that one has to eat nutritious foods and exersise on a frequent basis; but the truth of the matter is that a person can eat right and exercise all they want and still gain weight. Why? Because that person has not dealt with the underlying issues that caused them to gain the weight in the first place. It could be something as simple as the fact that their parent always expected them to clear their plate at meal time. It could be something traumatic that the person has gone through and the eating deadens the pain. But the person has to be truly honest with themself and do some exploration to get to the root cause. Therapy is the best way to do this because you are dealing with a professional who is trained to be objective and guide you through that exploration. Again, I love the show and hope that others are not only inspired but also more informed about the surgeries.
Mary JO here...thanks for the insight, and appreciating what I do. Sometimes my job is very tough because I have to confront and tell people what they do not want to hear or deal with. I love what I do...the greatest thing is seeing the patient fall in love with themselves again and discovering their demons. Unfortunately, we all have them..................
I love the show. Thank you for giving us another alternative to figure out if the surgery is right for us. I wish that you would also show more of what a person needs to eat after the surgery. For example, the supplements required, vitamins, many small meals, etc..
Are the surgeries performed as a duodenal switch or RNY?
And, it seems the surgery performed is always lap. Do they ever do open? It would be interesting to see the recovery differences. The surgeon that I consulted with only does open.
I've been researching the surgery for some time and I am very excited that there is yet another means of gathering information and seeing it real-life.
Thanks for showing all the sides and please cont to do so- successes and failures, those who get approved and those who do not.
Requests- show inside a WLS support group meeting; not so much abt folks getting body lifts in the end; more abt divorse and relationship difficulties; body image/ body dismorhphia; addiction substition- exchaning food for alcohol or shopping or sex; complications from the surgery or rehospitalizations
I love this show. I only wish that we could see how each of the patients are progressing. For example, I wonder how Allen is doing, since he wasn't on the show last week. Any chance at the end of the season, having an update show on all of these people that we have come to care about?
