Generally, the criteria for bariatric surgery are either a BMI over 40, or a BMI over 35 with life-endangering, weight-related comorbidities (such as diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) Your BMI is only 36.1. The good news is you are not classified as morbidly obese, and extreme treatments for weight loss, such as surgery, would only be considered if there were additional serious health concerns that would be resolved by WLS.
