Jennifer's story caught my attention. I can understand her emotional struggle with infertility. I am also infertile, I was diagnosed with PCOS, which pcos can cause obesity and infertility among other symptoms that may or may not occur. Does she know if there is a syndrome that could be the underlying issue. I think doctors would have figured it out but 3 out of 4 women with pcos dont know they have it, and it did take me 10 years to get the correct diagnosis. I too run a daycare and I feel as my daycare kids are like family and its hard to know that I am not able to have one of my own. Good Luck to Jennifer!

Kristen, I am sorry to hear of your circumstances. I have one Biological child and was never able to have another due to infertility. It was not because I was overweight, "damn I was thin then" it was due to complications of my daughter's birth. It too took 10 long years to find that out. I don't have an answer to your question. I do have 2 very loving sons via the loving option of adoption.
I was very touched by Jennifer's story. I too feel I was born to be a Mom. I love Jennifer's positive attitude, with this she will be very successful in all that she attempts.
I thought Jennifer's story was interesting. I am also obese and had difficulty conceiving. I tried for three years, using IUIs, drugs, etc. It finally got to the point where I was faced with the decision to either have gastric bypass, or proceed to IVF. After consulting three different REs (reproductive endocrinologists) in Houston, they all agreed that my best bet was to proceed directly to IVF. The weight, they said, could come off at any point, but I had a limited window of opportunity on the quality of my eggs. I did an IVF cycle and now have a 2 year old daughter. I had a successful pregnancy, despite being obese and that IVF cycle was the best decision I ever made.
Anyway, it made me wonder if Jennifer had consulted an RE. Also, I think I heard she was 26 -- so she wasn't fighting the biological clock like I was at 35. Hopefully she will get to realize her dream of becoming a mother soon!
Oddly enough, I tried to get approved for gastric bypass (with Dr Davis before he was famous!) before I became pregnant and was denied by my insurance company. I hired an attorney and fought it, but by the time it was finally approved, I was 3 months pregnant.
I'm not battling the insurance company again to get approved. Hopefully I'll hear something soon!
