I was very excited to see the first episode of Season 2 of Big Medicine! It looks like the stories will continue to be compelling!

Major congratulations to both of the ladies on last night's show! They are beautiful women, and have amazing husbands who support them. They really do look terrific!

Continued thanks to Garth and Robert for the amazing program they have put in place for bariatric patients here in Houston and for doing this show to educate people about obesity and weight loss surgery. You couldn't ask for a better team than the one they have put together, and we're blessed to have them working for - and with - us!

Thank you Kim! It was really difficult to watch myself last night. I just hope it will inspire someone else to get the help they need to get healthy. I wish you great luck with your upcoming episode. I can't wait to see the results of your surgeries. I am sure you look beautiful!

I should have introduced myself to you at the premiere party last night!

I know how tough it is to watch yourself on the show, and I'm anxious and nervous about seeing my actual surgeries chronicled on the show on the 23rd.

Take care, and congratulations again!

I am a huge fan of the show! This show helps educate the mostly UNEDUCATED public about the option of WLS. I hope they continue to do more shows about LapBand... Also I love the followups with plastic surgery updates! Interesting stuff.

I think in the first episode, there was a gal named Rachel that lost 100 pounds in just 3 months. That seems to be losing a little too fast. Maybe I'm just jealous because I'm five months out and have only lost 60 lbs. I was only about 10-15 lbs. less than Rachel when she had her surgery so I should be losing close to what she did. But I think she's younger than I am and probably able to do more exercise. I have joint problems and can't do much exercise. I'm just now able to walk 2/3 of a mile in 20 min.

teddybearok, please do not fall in to the trap of comparing your weight loss to someone else's weight loss! There are lots of factors that can contribute to how much you lose how quickly, and if you compare your weight loss to anyone else's, you are not being fair to yourself. If your surgeon is satisfied with the rate at which you are losing weight, you should be as well. Each of us has a different path, even with the same tool in place, and we are here to cheer each other on. Hang in there! 60 pounds in five months is nothing to sneeze at!! Congratulations on all that you are doing to make yourself healthier and happier!

teddybearok- Hi! This is Rachel from Big Medicine. I did lose the weight very quickly, too quickly. Do not compare your weight loss to mine, mine was not typical. It is healthier to let your body take the weight off more gradually. My body just reacted differently to the surgery. By the way, losing 60 lbs. is amazing and I applaud you for that, especially dealing with pain from joint problems. I am 33 years old and had no medical issues before the surgery. You are doing great, and keep up the good work. :0)

Rachel,
I'm still envious of your weight loss and very disappointed with mine. It seems like everybody on OH has lost at least 100 lbs. by six months. I'll be very lucky if I've lost 80 lbs. in 6 months. I'm 20 years older than you and it's harder to lose the older you get. On the third episode, Melissa lost 60 lbs. in 2 months. I'm very discouraged.

Pam,

I beg you to stop comparing yourself to others!! Everyone loses at a different rate, and it doesn't do anyone any good to compare themselves to others. Some may lose quickly at first, then hit major plateaus. Others may lose slower, but more steadily.

Why don't you look at it like this...how much weight did you lose in the six months before your surgery? Compare your loss in the months since surgery to your loss in the months prior to surgery, and realize how well things are going!

There are enough people out there in the world who are willing to beat you up...there is no reason for you to also do it to yourself! You deserve to be nice to you...so please do it!

Everyone on the show is inspirational!

As to losing not as quick..... its not a race.. ENJOY THE RIDE DOWN THE SCALE.. take each little NON SCALE VICTORY to heart and realize that YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!!!!
