I have been watching the show for years (or so it seems) and I have yet to see Ruud show the sun spider. I live in Souther California and I see this nasty little critters all the time and let me tell you, for those that haven't encountered one before...watch out.

Most people I have come across seem to think they are called vinegeroons, however they are incorrect as thats a completely different color (mostly black) and is simply another name for a whip scorpion. What I am talking about is the clear / yellow nasty bugger with two sets of chompers.

I would love to see Ruud do a show on them (or at least include them). 1, so people can start calling them by their real names and I no longer have to correct people, and 2, so I those that haven't seen one can understand just how vicious they can be.

Rudd, i hope you read this buddy!

Hi Geo!
I read these comments, allright; thanks for the mention of the so-called "sun spiders" (also known as Solifugids)
Yes - we toyed with the idea of including them, but never really got around to doing that. Now - if you REALLY want to know about these HARMLESS creatures: go to http://nathistoc.bio.uci.edu/spiders/Solifugid.htm

Have fun!
