my hermi just died and now we only have one should i get a buddy for my other one or is he fine? also the one thats still alive ate the one that is now dead dose any one know why he would do that.

Hermit crabs like to be with others they are social despite what they are called they are NOT hermits.

Yes. I know why your hermit crab ate the dead crab (sorry about the crab) because hermit crabs are cannelibilistic which means they eat eachother, sory I coudn;t answer this question earlier, but I just registered today.

heheh my network is full of topics about these hermit crabs because theyre an interesting bunch, since I see you're new at hermit crabs, just know you're in for a surprise when they walk out of their shell, or molt, when their shell gets too big for them.. yes, it is normal that a hermit crab will eat his friend, but they do get along with snails (unless they are molting, sometimes they will just swipe the snails' shells.) Anyway, enjoy your little friend and worry not.
