As all these animals were rescues, I know the basics... but if I could care for them better, that'd be wonderful. Here's a little run through as to how I take care of each.
I have a 55 gallon aquarium. It has a custom hood, which houses five lights. One switch turns on just a flourescent bulb. Nothing spectacular. The second switch turns on the "sunlight" bulbs. The third switch has the "black" night heat bulbs. The "bedding" is an organic soil compound. All fresh fruit fed to the turtle decomposes in here and is eaten or processed by the night crawlers that live in the soil. There is also a large water bowl, approximately two inches deep. There is also a large, driftwood log that runs from the water bowl on one side of the habitat, to the other end. The box turtle, barking tree frogs, and firebelly toads all live in this habitat. It is misted a few times a day. The toads, frogs, and turtle all feed on the crickets. The turtle also digs up worms. The turtle is also supplemented with veggies, dandelion greens, and fruits.
Is there anything I can add to this setup or other foods that I can try? The barking tree frogs are somewhat large... compared to me green tree frogs that are housed in a different habitat.
As for the leopard geckos...
I have a male and female in a 20 gallon short aquarium. Just a normal screen top. There is a basking rock, a water dish, a cave that contains wet moss for moisture and shedding, as well as a few pieces of driftwood that they like to climb. The bedding is dry Bed-a-Beast. They seem to be doing well, but I was thinking of switching to calcium sand. I've heard good and bad things about it, but I thought that this was the proper bedding...
And my turtle is still spending a majority of its time in the water bowl, which worries me.
Sorry about the post. I'm just more of a furry animal person.
