My iguana Verdi, recently laid two dozen eggs. I have a 10gallon fishtank as an incubator, 7gallons of water, a power pump, a heater, and a rack for the egg boxes, (18eggs looked viable and were placed in the incubator) its stays a nice comfy 86deg, it is wet inside the tank.

They have been in the incubator 7 days.

Problem: Its not clean! (kinda smelly too)

Most of the eggs have a 'slime' on them. I can only imagine that this is some sort of mold or fungus. Otherwise the eggs still all seem viable.

Is this normal or do i need to get rid of the clutch =( ?

Can the eggs be cleaned, washed off with water? or will this even help?

Thanks for any info.

(And Yes, She mated Aug 13th. Im pretty sure they are fertile.)

These eggs are not viable fertile eggs don't stink.

Just because the reptile mated doesn't mean the eggs are fertile.

Have you joined an reptile specific forums and asked about incubation and breeding there?

If the clutch is slimy, I'd get rid of it. I had 2 bearded dragons once and any eggs that get slimy, you're supossed to throw away, otherwise it'll ruin the whole clutch. Just because she mated, doesn't mean her eggs are fertile. Good luck and I hope this helped! Razz
