Those wise girls. They could never survive the Alaskan wilderness unless someone was there talking them through step by step. I mean seriously, who else would go through maybe a 1/6 of their supplies on the first day? And then one of them began to cry over a twisted ankle SUCK IT UP!!!! And they get into arguments over the most petty things Don't get me wrong i actually love the show but i think of it as more of a comedy then an actual show about wilderness survival.

I feel the same way. From the first hike to the cabin, I could tell they were over their head.
During that hike the bigger one wasn't drinking hardly any water. No wonder she had a leg cramp.
I just can't believe the way they talk to their father. It is as if they have no respect for him. It must be very embarrassing for him. Especially since this is all recorded and going to be shown on tv. I'm honestly surprised he didn't walk off the show. If I talked to my father the way they do theirs, I would be picking myself up off the ground.
What disgust me the most about them. While their father went out to try and catch some fish for them. They stayed behind to supposedly set the cabin up. All they did was half ash nailed a curtain to make a false wall and by that time they discovered the food. One of them said "wanna binge" and began to eat up the potatoes and peanut butter.
I would be very surprised if the father would stay the full duration of the experiment. I wouldn't last ten minutes around the two. The way these two children act.. I would demand my own cabin or walk off the show.

Agreed. I'm not sure I could put up with that nonsense. I'd have packed my ruck and bugged out a long time ago. I'd be saying "Have fun. I'm surviving the next range over...See you in 3 months...if you make it!".

Agreed! I would send them out to collect firewood and while they were gone I wood take 1/3 of the supplies and move out to live in a debris hut...
I would rather wrestle a pack of wolves than live with those two...

I simply think it is the reaction of anyone who is A, stuck with family under harsh conditions, that they cannot really grasp at first. B, Family will fight over stupid stuff as that is what family does, you are more comfortable and relaxed around them and more apt at saying stuff they would not to others. One thing about the family unit like the Wise's, they will stick together, and probably buckle down and get what is needed done. It may not always be pretty, but it will get done!
The only things I can see those girls sticking to are eating, and poor behavior. I sincerely hope that when they see the footage of themselves that they are very embarrassed. They don't seem like adults in a harsh situation that they can not grasp to me, they seem like spoiled children who are used to doing what they want when they want, and who act out when they don't get their way.
That man lost control of those two long before this show ever started. I'm thinking the tail has been wagging the dog since preschool or before. It will be interesting to see if he finally tells them to form a team or we are not gonna make it.

I have to agree, these are two disgusting girls. They are nowhere near being women. If the one is getting married soon I hope the husband to be sees this show and runs like hell!
i really dont think they are dumb.... but i would def. say they are lazy and rude..... the repsect they show their father and even each other is ridiculous.... its too bad they have the father there at all..... they were set up with an awesome cabin and i think without the dad they would end up eating each other.
that concept would have been better than the blatant disrespect all the time.
LOL!! I agree wholeheartedly, the Wise sisters are truly lost in the Alaskan wilds. I agree that the show is more comedy than serious television. I will further state I think they both need to remain in the Alaskan wilds for a year to get a serious attitude adjustment. Kicking back and binging on limited foodstuffs - well they had no idea of what is what. Will they make it, yes I think they will but I seriously hope the father steps up and asserts his "fatherly authority" - he won't cause they won't listen to him. It took them at least a few weeks to decide to make beds, gee how brilliant is that....sleeping off the floor is warmer than at floor level. Sumac
Mr. Wise is either the most patient man on the planet or just used to being abused by his disrespectful daughters.
Though I find the concept of surviving in the Alaskan winter and wilderness interesting enough to tune in to watch the show, the prospect of doing all of that and dealing with a couple of sarcastic windbags would be more than I would want to tackle.
Though I like the show, some of the participants and their antics detract from my enjoyment. As a remedy, I have decided to root against the Wise girls. Go bears!
You people need a SERIOUS reality check if you think that was 1/6 of the supplies they had. Come on. Four scoops of peanut butter, and a potato? And I'm not convinced it was all the same day, somebody on a different television forum pointed out that in the potato shot they're wearing different clothes, their hair is different, and there are different things in the background that hadn't been put up.
First off, learn how to differentiate when watching reality tv, because it's not always how it's shown. Second, I think it's dumb that anybody would ever question someone else's ability to survive when you probably wouldn't even be wiling to get off your butt and do it yourself. So easy to complain about others when you can google the facts, isn't it.
It makes me wonder that you people have totally disregarded the more recent episdoes, looking over the fact that not only does the father seem to have a disregard for keeping them informed on his apparently authoritarian judgement changes but also will go behind their backs to talk smack on them. It's one thing to get in a fight, which all families do -- it's another thing entirely to bad-mouth somebody when they're not able to defend themselves. Plus, berry picking looked to me like the dad wasn't doing anything more than standing around and letting the 'women' do the work.
And sumac, if you've ever been to that area of Alaska, you'd understand why beds aren't an immediate priority. The rainy season on the coast, when they were apparently inserted, is usually damp but very commonly in the upper 40's to lower 60's each day, and not dipping below about 35-40 at night because of the rain. What's the need for wasting energy making beds immediately, when they appear to have done a great job already having a full wood pile before they did the beds (you have to look in the background once in awhile to see what's NOT being shown, people).
I think that for all the annoyingness, there's probably a billion worthwhile things about the entire family we're missing. The point of reality TV (which this is, let's face it) is to make compelling stories. Halfway through the show, I'm sure it's not like they just suddenly woke up and realized what they were doing wrong, yet that's what the editors would lead us to believe.
Nobody, I mean NOBODY, would pay the horrendous insurance fees to send up a group of three greenhorns into a situation that dire if they didn't ALL have something to bring to the table. I'm thanking my stars that my family didn't get chosen, because my brothers were trying out for it, because they're the same age range as those girls and probably would've been torn apart in the editing room just the same, and we've been living in Alaska for years.
Personally, I think the Dad has every right to "vent" outside of his daughters' company. Same for the authoritarian judgement calls. Somebody has to lead that pack of mongrels. The teamwork concept is obviously not working. Trying to have a calm, adult discussion about anything with those girls seems to be useless. You seem to have all the answers, what would you do?
I think the one girl with the total lack of self esteem would actually do well without her awful sister in the picture. I'd like to reach through the tv and snatch that one's tongue out. The other two are going to need therapy for PTSD when it's all over. I'm sure the editing is intended to enhance her bad behavior, as you say. There's no question about that, but she had to be there in front of the camera for every scene they show and that's her face spewing that crap not just once, but repeatedly. I pity the man she's expecting to marry.
I noticed the unWise family had a much smaller part in last night's episode. Those girls are brats. And like the oompa loompas said "We know exactly who to blame".
