Not my take at all on these two. They got boned on location and shelter, yet they're not giving up and actually have made some of the coolest stuff of all the groups. They built a refrigerator, a nice toilet and a big vestibule for their tent. I think for dating only a few month they're holding together really well. They seem pretty smart to me.

Living in Maine with a good deal of forests the closest we have to a threat is the moose. Our bears are like large dogs compared to what they folks endured. I would love to have any of the sites except the tent! I know it’s used a lot as are yurts however still canvas vs. claws? yikes! Jeff has a good head. Elizabeth might have spent too much time with waste water. Even from day one her voice is well.... like Patrick on sponge bob, square pants and well often intelligence also. It’s not like any of these folks didn’t know this trip was coming and couldn’t run to Barnes and Nobel in NJ and see some books in both the home building section and in wildlife section. The country living book would have told her how to preserve food. Something like placing a lid correctly isn’t rocket science. She treats waste water? Hope the "treated" water of hers doesn’t kill all the fish.

They are my favorite group to watch. I feel so bad for them. I think they did get the poorest location because they were the most likely to succeed. I think Elizabeth is getting a bad rap too. I think she is holding up well given the circumstances. Only dating this guy for 3 months, terrible location, high stress. I hope they come out okay. I would love to see discovery bring them back and put them in one of the cabins. I bet they would just live it up.

Well, look at the bright side. if their relationship can handle this then they can handle almost anything else. Look at Greg and Bernice. They seem like such an awesome couple with a great relationship. It seemed strange to me when Greg said that back at home he and Bernice had seperate lives. Maybe he meant work wise?

Elizabeth and Jeff are by far the best team! If you look at their journals, they spent their time preparing to survive a cold and wet winter in the most thoughtful and intelligent way possible. While keeping sane and working hard may not be the sexiest and most thrill-seeking way to live out the winter, they are the team with the worst conditions who seem to be coping better than anyone.

They were a good team. Shame that the real world called them back early. Discovery dedicated the episode to Jeff's father - very nice of them.

Yes, they were a good team! Very hard workers. I'm sure they don't regret going back. Like they said, they had nothing to prove. They had already done enough prep to be able to last another 11 days. I hope they took a lot from their experience, and that Jeff had a really great time with his Dad

I just loved this couple because they were so incredible positive about all the crap they had to put up with. Jeff had such a positive attitude and it was such a breath of fresh air compared to the other girls in the cabin who didn't even know how lucky they were.
Jeff was incredibly thoughtful in his reflections and really made the show what it was supposed to be. Shame on the producers for giving them such crappy conditions though. They are the reason I loved the show. I only wish I could have such a positive attitude about such adversity.
Discovery should give Jeff his own show.

I think they'll go their separate way. She was clingy and he wasn't. Several times she's talk about him in the narration - but not him. She seemed marriage minded, he didn't. Face it, neither were survivalists. They're both hydrologists - that's about theory not living outdoors and shooting your food. My husband thought it was great how they cleaned up their camp site. I wonder if the Wises' emptied the pee jar.

I disagree entirely. Since when is your job the only thing that defines you? I think they both were incredibly adept at everything that was thrown at them and will take those skills with them forever.
I would love to see Discovery pick these two up for their own show. The balance of Jeff's poignant reflections and Elizabeth's creative enthusiasm (more evident in her journals than how they portrayed her on screen I think) is a very compelling combination.

Job = identity for LOTs of people. Talk to geologist (my previous profession), engineers, geophysicist ... doctors and Stay At Home Moms. How about clergy, teachers, policemen... Anything that takes a lot of education and hardship to obtain will become a big part of identity.
To them, nobody had a better outhouse, crab trap, or hygiene practices. And they were in standing water from the start. Unfortunately, It was all up hill after the salmon canning mishap.

Two very cool and intelligent people to do as much as they did with as little as they had. Two thumbs up for them.

Well, they both quit their jobs and sold everything they own (their words) and are headed back to Alaska to live. Maybe you were a bit off the mark?

Yes, they quit the cubicle life to work at a fishing concession. However, I highly doubt they've given up their professions for good. Their education will come in handy in Alaska. And Alaska is lucky to get a good hydrologist and Waste Water Engineer. I hope their adventure continues to be even more successful. This board is way too intense. People are over identifying with a reality show. Sure, it captured my imagination and then I started watching 'When they left earth.' Let's move on people.
