Mr. Formernationalguardsman, your argument is so flawed, I must follow the advice of Samuel Clemens: "Never argue with a fool, onlookers may not be able to tell the difference."

I've only read one or two replies and I have to say that apparently a lot of you know nothing about television/film production. The volunteers were probably not actors, only the production company that shot the show knows. However, they were human beings and they were there to demonstrate what life is like in the fall in the wilderness of Alaska. If you'll do your research about the show you'll realize that every group did have a support team with them. You have that on any major production shot folks. Its called safety. The dangers of the show are not always visable and/or something that would be aired. Ask yourself the following questios: Do you really think you could survive without any protection? Any medical help? Without any way of having contact with somebody besides your shadow? Without any help making sure there was equipment to survive with? (working stove, lanterns heater, etc.)And besides, how many times have you came in contact (within a 1,000 ft.) with a bear or any other wild animal of a large size that can kill you faster than you can get away? I would be willing to bet that the majority of you grapping know nothing of living or being raised in the mountains. So before you go off slamming the Discovery Channel remember this. A lot of the time these shows are shot/edited by a production company and sold to channels such as the Discovery Channel. That's why when you submit an idea you have to do it through a production company. I have nothing to do with the Discovery Channel but I was raised in the mountains and knew nothing of indoor plumbing until I was at least 6 yrs old. And I've hunted for Bear since I was 12 by myself. So back off these volunteers and the people around them. They are there for a purpose, common sense.

My username if fomermarine0341, though I have served in both the United States Marine Corps and the Kentucky Army National Guard. You see my argument as flawed, I see your argument as flawed. Therefore according to Clemens, we are both fools as we have disagreed here for all "onlookers" to see. A good day to you, my fellow fool.

I agree that name bashing is terrible, and that is enough said.
