Today we were awakened by a police officer at 5:30 a.m. asking us if we usually leave our garage door open. Well turns out that our neighborhood has been getting burglarized by a group of people maybe teenagers checking all cars parked in driveways if they are open or not and our neighbor had his truck stolen because he left an extra key somewhere on the car just in case he locks himself out of it. Well my husband left his car open and they took cd's and our garage door opener and that's how they were able to get into our garage by our own door opener. Well they also ended up taking his equipment he uses to work with. All of this while we were in our house sleeping and we have two labs which didn't bark at all. Thousands of dollars worth of high tech stuff. My question is "Do you guys think by the items they took they might want to see what is inside the house?" Any suggestions?
Right now it seems as if they are not willing to put an effort into their burglary... if they were willing to, they would break car windows or jimmy the doors open. Based on that I agree that it is a bunch of teens and I don't think they will want to take the risk of breaking and entering. Regardless of what I think they will do, you should plan for the worst, especially because they do have your garagedoor opener. If you are afraid that they will get into your house, use an alarm or buy a new garage door opener(unless you can reprogram your current one).
