im interested in window film for lower level windows, but...

is it impervious to glass cutting techniques?

and is it impervious to beakage by puncturing the corner of the window , like in the case of a automobile window?

i'll check back later to hear your responses

see it as a car wind shield

the glass will break, but it stays together,
and depending on the gage you get it does take time to cut through it.

Are you talking about putting glass that has layers of polymer in-between two layers of glass, and then the companies bake the set like a windshield. Or are you talking about the cute aluminum tape that the older alarms used to check for someone trying to break in by breaking or cutting the glass. Well I have an opinion on both. The baked glass if setup correctly works great, I would use the glass that is armored and tempered, but with enough work (everything you do will only inhibit a burglar not stop him, other than get a very loud monitored alarm system, I have seen burglar scared off by them) you can get past the glass. You can use the aluminum window tape too but it is very easy to beat (I will not say how here on the site but any good alarm company NOT ADT OR ANY COMPANY THAT HAS A PHILOSOPHY LIKE THEM) so in the end I would say to you think of your house a rings of security where maybe the thief gets into one area but wont be able to get into another area without going through the same hassle again. Also I would defiantly get an alarm, please don’t get a proprietary alarm get one that any ALARM COMPANY CAN MONITOR. I would go with an Ademco or GE system, please if you are looking into cameras get at least a 480 TVL camera with the DVR (NO VCRS EVER) being at least 30fps for each camera not 30FPS total so a four channel good DVR would have 30 X 4 = 120FPS. I would also recommend getting a DVR that has a network port (TCP/IP) so you have the chance to view your home or business from work or your cell phone.
