People all over the world who are mourning the death of Steve Irwin, have a chance for some closure to their grief. This grassroots idea started the 13th of September, has snowballed into a worldwide Campfire/ candle lighting ceremony. Steve's Dad said on the news that they had a funeral for steve where everyone was gathered around the campfire and told fond stories. That this is what Steve wanted. Since most of us cannot come to Australia to pay respects, I came up with an idea.
If it's a Camp fire Steve wanted, then why not have the worlds biggest Bond-fire by having all who loved him join in by lighting candles, lighters, flashlights, Bonfires, etc. The perfect day to honour him would be two weeks after his passing.
So this is a way to join in with thousands of others -spiritually- and give him the biggest and best sendoff ever, AND pray for his beloved wife Terri and Children. In this way you can help THEM with their grief by surrounding them with love and support. Please light a candle for them. Here is a timezone converter to change 9AM Weds the 20th, Australian time to your local time: http://www.timezoneconverter.com/cgi-bin/tzc.tzc
Come join us in your own backyard with candles, lighters, flashlights, bells, or a campfire...for the biggest Bondfire in the world, for STEVE and his family. You will be AMAZED when you feel the spiritual strength of THOUSANDS joining hands to honour him and pray for the Irwin family. Come lift up your hearts and your hands and send Terri and children the love you felt for Steve.
Keep the fire going if you could not participate tonight. It's never too late to light a candle. Click on this website and play this song: Go Light Your World Then in Steve's behalf.. Go Light Your world. Let us know here when you light your candle for all to see. Sharing the love.. -Cheryl-

If you want to observe the two week mark since Steve's passing - which is on Monday, the 18th in Australia - then that would happen in the USA on Sunday, Sept. 17 - at the times listed above.
Also, just a thought - perhaps some would want to gather in front of their local zoo (as they did the other day at the Denver Zoo).
sorry, have just posted on your other message about lighting a candle, living in Canada or the US this will be on the Sunday allowing for time difference is that right as they are a day ahead? I want to get it right and link up with all you guys, another good link is www.timezoneconverter.com
I forgot to add that this Moment of Silence on Monday is not the public service being held by the family, nor has it been endorsed by them.
This is not something taped on TV. It's something WE who cannot be there for his memorial service, are doing separate from the memorial service being held at the Zoo on the 20th for Steve. I wish there was some way to contact and include the family.
11:30:00 a.m. Monday September 18, 2006 in Australia/Brisbane converts to
09:30:00 a.m. Monday September 18, 2006 in Asia/Singapore
You are two hours ahead of Australia Zoo/ Brisbane Australia time.
For Asia/Singapore,his memorial service time is 07:30:00 a.m. Wednesday September 20, 2006
Everyone can either participate in Mondays Moment of Silence at 11:30AM AU/Brisbane AEST which will mark two weeks after his death; or wait for the public memorial held on 09:00:00 a.m. Wednesday September 20, 2006 Australia/Brisbane time.
If we wait for the the public memorial service, then our que to light candles is when they have a moment of prayer. I certainly hope they do...

you can count us in here in Saskatchewan for both a moments silence on Sunday ( Monday for Oz) and lighting a candle whenever it's decided to do it on the Tuesday eve ( Weds am in OZ), only problem is we won't know when to light as it's not being televised here, the rest of my family in the UK will participate as well and spread the word
topmummy, thats the problem most of us will have not knowing when to light a candle if we wait for the service on Wednesday. If it's not covered here locally on TV or not knowing discovery channels schedule IF they are covering it, OR most people may not have cable -then most of us are out of luck on doing a moment of silence with the Public Memorial for him on Wednesday. I'm going with the two week anniversary for Steve on Monday, Brisbane time. (9:30 PM Sunday the 17th for me on Detroit EST) If I can find live tv coverage on Tues night here for his public memorial, then I'll participate in that too with a lit candle and a prayer for his family.
sounds good to me cbtree, I'll go with the two week anniversary for lighting the candle then will have a quiet moment to myself at the time of the memorial unless we find it being covered anywhere. Did you know you can now post condolences on the Australia Zoo site? click on tribute to Steve and scroll down, they are also looking for suggestions for a memorial for Steve.
Thanks for you help in coming up with an idea to link us all and share our thoughts together and pray for Steve and his precious family
Anything 4 Steve-O We will join here in OH. from our home with our reptile friends also. At 9:30 pm. Sun. 17th ! Will light many candles. I keep checking on here *forum* to see if they are going to share with the world the memorial service. I do respect their wishes , but , feel this is my only way to pay our respect & share in Steve-O's goodbye. I have seen nothing about it on Animal Planet yet & watch often. This is a great idea & you can count us in.
On the Australia Zoo site you can now post a tribute AND make suggestions for the memorial...perhaps you can let them know via a post there...it said last night that the posts will be reviewed before added...so they may see it in a timely fashion.
The campfire will be more like a "Bond"fire, dedicating ourselves to individually determine our own way of supporting what the Irwin's have nurtured. Each light must not grow dim as time goes on.
I'll have every candle in the place lit for the campfire AND making certain to be "present in Colorado" for the worldwide memorial on the 20th.
We should also work throughout the year to have Sept. 4th a target date to celebrate KEEPING the promises we're making to the Irwin Family and ourselves now, in addition to offering a meaningful tribute to Steve.
See you 'round the campfire, Dee in Colorado

hi, i'm in california and will be joining in. to honor Steve's passing, i will be driving to a place where there's a good chance of seeing coyotes, my second favorite species, wolves being the first. even if i don't see one, it will be a nice wild place to pray for Steve and his family and friends left here on earth. i will light a candle and burn a little sage. love to you all.
I am in tears seeing this event take off and get rolling. Thank you all for spreading the word. You will be impressed at what you are about to feel during this 5 min of silence. Thousand and thousands of people .. all bonding together with a huge "campfire" of candles, flashlights lighters, and whatnot.
Just hoping someone doesn't steal my idea and submit it as their own on the AU Zoo website. This was for all of you who cannot be there to pay their respects.
grr-animal: We should also work throughout the year to have Sept. 4th a target date to celebrate KEEPING the promises we're making to the Irwin Family and ourselves now, in addition to offering a meaningful tribut to Steve
Dee, how wonderful you put that. A Bond Fire. And yessss.. We do need to make promises and fullfill them in Steve's behalf for wildlife.
Count on this Bond Fire as you put it, to happen again 4th Sept, 2007. And the next year.. and the next. You are so right about not letting this light grow dim. I could not have said it any better. Thank you for your inspiration input and thoughts.
I will be joining in with my candle and prayers from Vale, Oregon on Sunday Sept. 17th @ 7:30am Mountain Time. I just heard the song that Colin Buchanan did for Steve very touching and catchy all at the same time, great to play that day.
After the campfire, then the worldwide memorial on the 20th, maybe our next date to celebrate Steve's life in a significant way should be his birthday...February 22nd...every year?
I'll be joining in Gainesville, Georgia. My prayers and condolences to Terri, Bindi, Bob, Robert Irwin,John, Wes, and all Croc Hunter fans across the world.
First click on the Zoo logo upper left, then click on Steve's picture; another picture of Steve pops up; below is a statement, then below that are two links...one for a tribute...one for memorial suggestions...
You are a wealth of ideas Grr-Animal! Remembering him on his Birthday is much better than his Death date. Ughh.. I hate even thinking or saying it. Post a new message and see what kind of response you get? Personally, I love it. PS.. you can tell when the AUssies are sleeping. It's 5 am there, and Sox hasn't posted in a while. Hope she reads our postings here so they can all get on the same page.
cbtree-- I think it would be a good idea for YOU to post a new message suggesting his birthday celebration...because you began this "bond"fire...again your efforts confirm "It only takes a spark to get a fire going"...because Steve has passed on, we must "Pass It On"

Mon24mon, I'm on Eastern time so I'll light mine at 9:30 pm Sunday. Oklahoma is Central time so you are 1 hour behind me. Light yours at 8:30 pm Sunday.
i'll be doing a bonfire at 8:30 pm Sunday night here in Quincy illinois.....what a great opportunyi to gather brush around our yard in steves name, and have a bonfire for him to celebrate his life and all the wonderful things he gave to us...none of which you could ever put a price tag on, or wrap in a pretty box. thank you Steve. You may be gone, but you'll never be forgotton. With the help of Terri, Wes and Bob and all the wonderufl people at the Australia Zoo, your memory and future plans will be lovingly carried out. What a wonderful family of loved ones you have. God bless you and those who were around you. We love you.
There is a site where you can have multiple people in a chat...perhaps that would be helpful so some uf us can be seen? Just a thought....email me if it sounds good. I'm willing to set it all up before hand.
