I can't find any positive comments, only negative. Me personally, I think it is a disgrace to the scientific/engineering community. Deanne should be embarrassed.

Question:
So do YOU like the show?

Choices:
yes
no

In all fairness, this poll would be more useful if the initial post weren't so strongly biased against the show.

To whom it may concern,

I've given this show a few chances. The initial premise and trailers had me interested. However throughout my.... painful viewing experience, I felt compelled to write in and let you know how much it sucks. Watching Smash Lab has been like watching a train wreck; you know it's horrible but you just can't look away. I don't know what the hell you people were thinking, but broadcasting the cousin of Mythbusters was a horrible idea. It is literally an exact duplicate of Mythbusters down to the concept of a bunch of guys with one piece of eye candy hanging around, except:

1) You cast the rejects that didn't make the cut for Mythbusters
2) They have worse/stupider experiments
and
3) The writers are horrific, if there even are any.

The least you could have done is sell this television show to another network, but instead you've tainted my appreciation of Mythbusters.

That's a paradox, isn't it? You hate something so much that you insist on watching and complaining about it. At least I can tolerate Deanne's voice better than I can tolerate Rachael Ray's. But then again, Rachael Ray makes some killer appetizers.

I'm usually alone in my opinion, and it appears that things haven't changed.

I like Smash Lab. It's not my favorite show on television (South Park), but it definitely doesn't warrant the outright vitriol it receives from the incredibly bitter people on the Internet.

I guess the tragic flaw of this show is that it's centered on the concept of innovation, yet it itself isn't especially innovative, in that the banner review for the show on IMDB reads, "It's like Mythbusters, except it sucks."

It is a lot like Mythbusters, except on Smash Lab they're actually trying to do something useful: innovate.

Oh well. You guys have at least one fan.

Green Genes,

Of course there are people who like the show, as well as a lot of people who don't like it. I mean - Who is posting the ideas in the suggestion section?

Even the people who like the show would probably concede that it is flawed. They are not, however, compelled to revel in the failure of others to establish a sense of self-worth.

Really - Why else would some one hang around a board for a show they hate?? I mean - It looked like certain doom for Smash Lab. When it becomes a little less certain they will leave.

I agree with son..... I like the show because it actually HELPS people, the ideas are meant to make people think about other ways to save lives or help people. Thats what I get from it anyway. I made a good suggestion in the suggestion board, maybe they will do it.

Originally, I was on the "Cancel the show" bandwagon. However, over the last few episodes I have been more impressed with what they're actually doing. I'm not saying this is a show that will stay on my schedule now that the writer's strike is over. But still, I thought the scientific principals they've been discussing are interesting - the aluminum vs. Magnets, the liquefied sand - have been interesting and reflect the fact that actual THOUGHT is going into the shows. There's also been talk about whether their experiments are cost effective and/or feasible. Obviously, the fans' voices have been heard, and acted upon, and good for us. Maybe it's time everyone who hates the show, to give it one more IMPARTIAL look. It's still not great. It's no Mythbusters, but it's halfway decent. A good time killer. I for one voted "yes" because of the improvements.

Good luck Smash Lab, you're getting there...

You know, I want to like the show but every time I watch it I just get so frustrated at what they try to engineer into viable solutions. It would be much better if they actually tried to come up with solutions for issues that have not already been addressed years ago.

My main gripe is that they do not do much looking into the physical properties of the materials they are working with. For instance- using rare earth magnets to escape from a high rise fire. They neglected to mention/learn that these types of magnets begin to lose their strength when subjected to temperatures above 176*F and completely lost their magnetism over their curie temp of 590*F.. A high rise fire would undoubtedly produce temps over this (1800*F+).

If the producers tackeled some issue that does not already have a viable, tried and true solution, the show would be better. With- a different cast.

Thanks.

There is so much wrong with this show... no scientific method... Embarrassing abuse of resources and money (and environment), BAD hosts… the list is long.

I don’t think I’ve ever “hated” a TV show. This program might change that.

I'm agree with Son. I think this show is more focusing on trying out concepts & ideas than putting their products into everyday use. It does have flaws - not well prepared with science before doing all the damaging test, and always run a compare test even when the out come is obvious.

For anyone who thinks rockets stops a trailor is a joke, it has already been tried on a C130 (althought not quite a success).
