Jantzen, you NEVER handle Emus! Rattle a bucket of feed and they should follow you. I thought I heard Jantzen say he's "handled" or "raised" Emus before? But, in the end looks like he called someone who knew and told him about shielding.

he was part of the "Dirty Work" episode rescue of the ostriches there, similar enuf, and of the emu handling in the Rita hurricane rescue episode. and has probably done other emu work off the series.

always keep in mind that the series only shows a very small part of an investigator's or chief investigator's body of work. we don't actually know what work he did or did not do with emus prior to this event, therefore. and i'm willing to take their word for it that he did. i can't imagine him or patti reviewing that segment before approval by the shelter and letting an outright falsehood or mistake get past them.

reputation is key.

altho why no hoods (or makeshift hoods) for their heads puzzled me. but these folks run ragged when starting up big seizures and probably forgot them. that towel scene was embarrassing.

and whether he made any phone calls to get advice is moot - point is, they got 'em.
