Right now I'm a stay at home mom. I miss the working world, actually I wish I could have finished school first, I'm only 19 so I think I'm too young to never have a career. I would love to try this out

Well, I agree that being so young, it wouldn't hurt to get out there and see what you can do. You could look into the temp or staffing agencies in the area to see if they have any temp work. With being a temp, you can work short periods of time, or just for part-time during the day.

Or if you want to go to school, try looking into your local community college. Some have day care avaiable or you can even take courses on the computer. I'm currently going to school very part-time and the school has day care on campus.

Good luck!

Workingmom is right, lots of colleges offer on campus daycare, which to typically run by the campus and is very affordable to students. The hours are very flexible, you can drop off your kids just for your class or, if you have to study or some errands to run, which we all know are accomplished 10 times faster solo, the kids can stay for longer periods of time. Many colleges offer lots of tuition assistance as well, a lot is need based, but you wold be surprised how much is available. So college may be more affordable than you think. Consider what you think you may want to study, or even just start taking 'core-curriculum' classes and see where that takes you.
Best of luck.

I totally agree with the 2 previous posters. Definitely check into the local community colleges. You need some basic classes, particularly in computers, for even the most basic jobs today. If there's an area that you think you'd really love, start there. A lot of junior colleges are also running classes on-line as well as special local TV channels. In addition, the public colleges will be WAY less expensive than private or propritary ones. And should you decide to go after a full Bachelor's, your credits should transfer easier too. Don't let ANYONE ever stand in your way of learning.

Go for it and good luck!

I'm a working mom of 2 little girls. I'm an RN & my dream is to work OB. I love that aspect of nursing. I work in a clinic setting, which I like because of the hours, weekends off, & holidays off. I've put my dream on hold for my children, because they are worth every bit of it! I've tried to get transferred to another clinic in the same corporation that I work for that has OB with no luck. I just wish I could spend some time working in the OB dept. without having to quit my clinic job. Any suggestions?

To Whom It May Concern:

I have caught my wife watching the show "The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom", several times. When I ask her what she wished she was doing, usually she ignores the question or changes the subject. I know she thinks back to earlier times when she had certain choices to make in her life. We now have 4 children, two are in High School and two are in grade school. They all play sports, competitive rowing for the older two, with two hour practices every night on the river, Soccer Practice during the season for the other 2 as well as team gymnastics for the youngest over the Winter. She works as an labor and Delivery Scrub Technician part time at a large university. In fact they delivered triplets today, which she very excited about. She is also the 3rd Grade room mother at the younger childrens school. Needless to say she doesn't have much time to pursue other interests or dreams. I am able to help most of the time,(as the shuttle bus) with my job as a firefighter which allows me two days to help run kids here and there, I work 24 hrs and am off 48 hrs. She loves the children and enjoys her times with them but, I know she gave up part of her dream for the family.

She once was a buyer for a clothing company (I think it was Britches of Georgetown), but had to give that up because of travel reasons and children. She talks about trips to New York to meet with designers to see their clothing lines. She talks about conversations over materials and faced paced decisions. When she does answer my question "what do you wish you were doing", it usually is "I wish I was still a buyer!" Now, 17 years later, I wish she had the chance to experience the job of a buyer once again. I would like her to feel confident that she can "still do it". She doesn't get much of a break otherwise. How can she apply for the opportunity to be considered for the show. I think she would enjoy the chance a dreaming again about what could have been.

Thanks!

To Tracey/Producer

Hello my name is kieth. I know this show is about stay at home moms. I think this show is more about dreams come true. I am married to a great wife and have two kids. One that is sixteen years old and the other is nine years old. I have always been the type of person to give up something for someone else. I always had a dream of becoming a professional paid firefighter. I have always done volunteer work for the community. At the age of fifteen I joined a volunteer fire department when I lived in the country. Once I got the taste I loved it. I used to get up at all times of the night, give up my family times at the holidays to help someone else in need. I was always on call 24/7 and when my pager would go off I would have to rush to the fire department. I stayed on volunteering while I graduated from high school and then I got a full time and decided to go to college which I didn’t finish because I got married. I moved and always wanted to become that professional firefighter but I couldn’t because I had a family to take care of. I couldn’t leave my job to go to the fire academy to pursue my dream. My wife has always supported my dream but I was never able to fulfill it. About eleven years later I went back to help the community I now live in by getting back to being a volunteer firefighter. I also am involved into the local boy scouts. I have gone back to college to try and finish what I started. I have always dreamed of seeing what it’s like to be a professional firefighter. I would like to be able to surprise my wife and my kids. I would really like to see my sons eye’s when I am able to tell him that I actually did what he see’s on tv. Make a twist to the show and bring me in and let me live a dream.

Thanks
Kieth
