i loved this program. i know some people dont but i liked it a lot. i loved meeting the 'ordinary iranian', the working man, and then the various officials and authorities, dissidents, and so forth. not to mention the americans in the region. i really liked how koppel just seems to that stage in life where he doesnt give a crap about an agenda, he just tells things like he is seeing them.

i loved seeing the rappers, the bicyclers, playstation 2, the apple store, rebellious teenagers, etc. i always knew that everyone everywhere shares the basic same humanity, and it was nice to see this on the news for once, instead of the plain old 'big issues' rehashed for the millionth time with talking head zombies throwing out carefully crafted press releases.

anyways thanks. i only wish more people could see this show.

hey, thanks...I'm sure Ted would appreciate the compliments. I hope you'll continue to post to the Koppel on Discovery board and join in our discussions of future Ted Koppel documentaries.

I wanted to join in on the previous compliment. I was also struck by how similar we are. I'm tired of rehashing the differences. In another discussion forum I mentioned that I just read a blog about some Americans who recently finished a trip to Iran to help them organize help for drug addicts seeking recovery. This blog further supported Ted's own reflections on how open and eager Iranians were to meet Americans and work together to solve real problems that face us all, like drug addiction (poverty, eductation and health too).

i agree with you so much, this series was most enlightning to me about iran and it's people. about 7 years ago i was playing in a game room with someone who happened to be from iran . we discussed his people , his government and so many things that when we finished i felt i finally understood their way of thinking . he told me his people did not dislike americans but felt that we as a nation should know more about what our government does in other countries in our name . we talked about afganistan, how we helped osama fight against russians and leaving when we got what we wanted, being russia leaving in defeat, but left them with a nation torn apart with no help or funds to fix it . many , many other things he told me that i was unaware had happened . it made me realize that we as a people , do not have enough imput into our governments workings nor do we try to understand or know what they do to others in our name as long as our lives go on as we want them too. i now know that we all need to be envolved and up to date on issues .because in the end , maybe in some distant future we will be where we are now , and not understand what even took us there .we should all be ashamed of passing the buck to those we elect because in the end we get a country that we deserve. one that we really know nothing aboutor anything it does in our name

pat_k, you are welcome in your answer to me about my comments . i watch mainly the news programs on msnbc, and cnn . i have a great interest in what is going on in the world around me . i wish i had discovered this forum before , and not wasted so many feelings within myself with no one to share them with or converse. i will be a regular watcher and talker of this site. i'm so glad we have the freedom to have a site where ideas are appreciated and the average american can reach out to others of like mind . thanks for your response. it meant a great deal to me .

Pat,

How do we contact members of the production team. Imtayaz Delawala is a former student council member and graduate of West Mesquite high School and I wanted to drop him a line to let him know how proud we are of him. I loved his piece on technicolor Iran! Way to go MT from a very proud former faculty member of WMHS!Thanks

Sorry that it took me so long to respond--somehow I overlooked your posting. I just sent an e-mail to my supervisor at Discovery, asking if there's a way we can hook you up with him.
