I must admit that I am stunned. I just read downstairs that, Although he has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of his client for the check fraud charges, Jose Baez sent a money order from his office to the bank to reimburse them for the money Casey allegedly stole. The bank acknowledges receipt of this payment from Baez in a letter stating that "Bank of America did not take this payment in lieu of criminal prosecution":
uhhhh i'm only away a few days and return to find everything changed! new thread, well ok
HELLO everyone, i hope all are well
Some, thanks for the info, smooth move by baez, make resitution and they usually don't follow through on the charges, what's the point, his client goes into court on these charges and it's already been repaid, a jury will look at that, as in where's the big deal now she made restitution (shrug)
i do, however, thoroughly enjoy his idiocy in attaching the letter that the bank will still pursue the criminal charges to his motion, good grief his stupidity seems to gain confidence as it rolls along (shaking my head)

At the very least, this seems really unethical. No wonder Judge Strickland filed a complaint about him. How unprofessional can you get? Banks letter was basically saying, um..yeah, well thanks but no thanks, she's going to court fool, wtf is wrong with this guy? I wish Strickland would strike him from this case so she doesn't try to say years from now, with some other attorney, that she had ineffective council.
Not only did this not work for our friend Jose, but it completely blew up in his face! (pretty much like everything else he does) Now the question is why would he pay restitution if his client is not guilty? There is a possibility that no one would have known he did this, but he ratted himself out by attaching the proof of his payment to a motion he filed!
Since he has now effectively thrown the case, maybe she should just plead guilty and take her sentence. Then they can devote their time to defending the murder case (which is why they say they wanted the trial delayed in the first place.)
I wouldn't want an idiot like that defending me on a jaywalking charge! Isn't Lyon supposed to keep him from doing stupid things? I guess he did it on a day other than Thursday or Friday when she was busy teaching class.
