Hornsby stated that the motions are lacking in substance. He expected more from Lyons. "They don't know the Florida Law well" The motions to dismiss those charges should have been filed by Baez a year ago. Maybe now Casey will tell Baez, regarding the motions "this should have been done a long time ago"
Suz, thanks for this info! i love seeing the experts way in on this defense!
interesting that he says should have been done a year ago, i said that in another thread......if the defense really had legal grounds for challenging the charges and having any dismissed, it should have been done right away, when she was first charged. wait a year, geezuz this is a desperate defense!
if that was my attorney, i'd fire him. i'd be like "ok if you feel that the charges aren't right, why the hell have you let me sit here a year, why didn't you file to have them dismissed immediately!" but of course we all know that's not the case and the defense is scrambling now and they are desperate

I agree with Hornsby's assestment of the lack of good defensive moves earlier on in the case. No GOOD defense counsel is going to wait a year to challenge the indictment against their client ESPECIALLY if the indictment was supposedly "flawed" from the start.
I kind of understand or maybe EXPECTED Baez to make foolish moves, write motions that were lacking and look like an idiot on the thing, but Lyons was a reputable defense attorney and professor. Her involvement in this case should have garnered her tons of free publicity and national recognition in the BIG BUSINESS that is currently disguised as the American judicial system. I can truly say that I feel like an idiot now for buying into the hype surrounding her greatness as defense counsel and this "dream team" that was created. Having worked for attorneys for over 15 years, I have seen attorneys bow out of cases for much less cause.
I was wondering if at this point, she has realized she made a "huge mistake" in taking on Ms. Anthony's case, trying to defend the undefendable and her unexcusable lies, actions, reactions and NON-ACTIONS that are the nucleus of this case. Would it be better for Ms. Lyons to continue on this crazy train or would it be in HER best interest (career-wise) to bow out gracefully???
Sadly, I think that Baez and Lyons may have been decent attorneys, wanting more business and thought this case would bring just that to them. Now, I think they have both DROWNED IN THE ANTHONY FAMILY POOL OF KOOL-AID, have become addicted to seeing their faces and names nationally, even if they throw their respectability out the window.
twinz, I agree that both Baez and Lyons are good attorneys. To defend Casey Anthony-well it is a dirty job and someone's got to do it. I would tend to think that all the motions are formality. Just as Hornsby stated that the charges being dropped should have been done by Baez a long time ago. I believe that Lyons is now focusing on getting her off of DP. It is obvious from the wording, that she is not familiar, yet, with Florida Laws and Statutes. I am just wondering if this is Lyons special gift to make the opposition think that she is not quite as smart as everyone thinks she is. She catches them off guard and then goes in for the kill. She can't be as dumb as her motions make her out to be. So much so that Kathi Belich actually asked her was she having her law students write them for her. She looked dumbfounded and stated "you're kidding right?" Anyone that defended Casey would be marked and ridiculed. It is that she is despised so much. Casey will get at least LWOP there is no question about that. I am going to find the link to Andrea Lyons website. For I don't think she actually gets defendants acquitted, but she is called the Angel of Death because her special expertise is getting their conviction sentences lowered. http://www.andrealyon.com/
Here is one of the articles that Andrea Lyons wrote on "Defending the Life-or-Death case, she goes into much detail regarding the sentencing phase of the convicted.
You can see in this writing that she words her motions regarding Casey having to see her parents privately and why Lyons believes this. It is evident that she is preparing for that phase now with the motions. She has to know that Casey is not going to be acquitted they all have to know.
I don't think Hornsby is very impressed with this Duhfense
it's apparent he's not a fan of incompetence and stupidity
criminal defense attorneys usually stick together better than that and most will stick up for another in defending their colleagues actions....i think he feels that this duhfense isn't a credit to the profession, criminal defense attorneys already have a tough job defending mostly guilty clients and then you get a group of complete morons and incompetents like this defense on such a high profile case i'm sure it makes others cringe!
Maybe Hornsby could hire on as a consultant so someone on the team will know FL law and show her how to do her job too
