I thought that a news reporter's job was supposed to be unbiased. I"ve been watching the show and actually getting sick to my stomach. The whole time he's been attacking the film maker. He clearly has his mind made up that this thing is not really Jesus's family tomb. If he wants to play devils advocate that is fine with me but he's not. I"m not saying i think it is or not, i just think as a broadcast major it makes me mad to see someone who is a prominent face in the media be so obviously one-sided
no wounder he lost his job on the network news.

He's ripping it apart because it was a joke. He has quote after quote showing how much of a joke this "documentary was." The archeologists are further showing why...it's awesome. The guys are filmmakers, not true archeologists.
I see the militant atheists here are getting upset that this documentary is being exposed for the fraud that it is. Also interesting that not one of the guests on this panel is a Christian! Two are simply intellectually honest enough to see it for the fraud that it is.
Yeah Ted is SO biased and trying to discredit Simcha and all his hard work.
Here's how I think it could have gone down. See this story was on digg.com last week and got some major media attention. So the right wing media wanted to have a chance to discredit all of this and so they put together this bogus debate with Ted as the 'mediator'.
I bet discovery channel got some presure from advertisers to have this phoney debate and so they caved in.
yes I agree I can't believe the discovery channel would use this leftist idiot. the guy in the glasses don't know his name is more of a jornalist than ted. he isn't suggesting anything just saying what a coincident.
What really gets on my nerves is that Ted is challenging him on the topic of making the show entertaining, then turning the entertainment aspect of it towards pushing a false conclusion. He's blaming him of putting words in others mouths when he's putting words in his mouth of putting words in his mouth
Isin't amazing that every time there is tangible evidence uncovered from the biblical past, that the journalistic world jumps up on it's platform to denownce the reliability of such? They could have picked no one better to do this than Ted "The Wigman" Koppel.
Your absolutely right, he is totally against this from the first moment to the last.
as a double major in film and journalism and also catholic I see the film makers point of view. This is a docu-drama; meaning they reenact "theories" This movie never says that this IS the tomb. At the end it even says that there is a chance it isnt, but a 30,000 to one that it isnt! The movie is supposed to be provocative and it is...obviously. The only problem is with ted koppel. And everyone who has written on this thread already knows what i think about that
A "Critical Analysis" is supposed to be an objective, unbiased view at the evidence presented.
Ted Koppel is totally attacking this thing and his beginning and continuing approach has been "its a lie and the people presenting it are idiots"
How about getting someone in there who doesn't hope against hope that its a lie and let them do the critical analysis.
Everytime the guys start talking he tells them to let someone else talk or redirects the topic.
They cannot even explain what they're findings were!
I've never seen such "intelligent" people debate as to whether a man 2,000 years ago died, was buried and had a wife and child.
They actually find it more reasonable that the man (in a time where it was custom and tradition to have a wife and children) died, rose from the grave like a holy zombie, never had sex, never had children and never had a wife and lets not forget became some demigod that ascended into heaven.
I agree... its more like a critical look of how your film was made, not the evidence. So what if the film left out information or presented it one way or the other. What really needs to happen is more research and not by a journalist but scientists.
you guys are so right - Ted and his bible banging buddies are scared to death that the flock will be even further diminished - just like the DaVinci Code opened peoples eyes to ask the questions that need asking - i think the film makers did an excellent job.
i agree ted kopple is a idoit! he has not let the other part even debat on the topic..i feel he has taken over the the debat..my personal feeling is that the film was made very tastfully..in no way did my family and i feel that the film maker is pushing a veiw that this is all true information..to me this is very exciting discovery.. i wish ted would shut his mouth for a few min and let the other debat on this topic..i am very excited about this information..for me this stregthens my beliefs!!!!!
I agree, I never seen such a bad interview. Ted Koppel has attacked this men and dismissed their idea. All these people are have not reviewed any of the evidence expect seeing this film.
I think this is great because it opens dialogue on a subject that needs to be discussed. This man has found an amazing tomb with possibilities. The scientist need to step up and check his facts in the film.
Also, I am Catholic and I have never believed, from all the bible stories I heard as a child, that they were referring to a physical body rose up to heaven. As an intelligent adult I would never accept that the physcial body rose, the bible is written in riddles and has been interrupted over thousands of year in many languages, who says what the wording truly means and add commom sense as well.
Maybe this will open further public debates that will not include a limelighter journalist, but a true mediator to keep the debators in their seats, swapping opinions not blows.
Then let science disprove the theory's until we are left with the facts.
Also, why is he not attacking all these guests and letting them go on and on about bogus bull, and way off the movie subject and all the possibilities.
I don't think Ted was ripping it apart. He was just asking questions about it. I think the filmmaker did a good job explaining why he did it. And for all the people crying about the ressurection...It wasn't even mentioned. There was so much whinning about Nothing!
What a one sided debate.. It seemed to me that alot of people changed there story after old Ted gave them a call! A very sad one sided sham. But from Ted what did you exspect......
Heh...it's amusing to see all of these responses. That's hardly the case at all. Koppel clearly isn't biased against evidence against Christianity. He's against pseudoscience. Ted Koppel was clearly smart enough to see that this "journalist" had an agenda when he made this film, and the scientific method was blown to pieces in order to try to prove the filmmaker's point.
I agree with you that Ted Koppel was being biased. The discussion after the show was completely one sided. Ted let everyone else on the panel make statements to discredit the film, and would not give the film makers a chance to respond back. Ted made a completely one sided interview. I think he is a horrible journalist after seeing this so called "discussion".
I think the "discussion" show was obviously backed by the Church to try and discredit the film because they are afraid that people will start thinking on their own.
