okay, this in reference to the section where yall gave us the info for employment, but I must ask if pilgrim studios offers anything like an internship or something where a college student like me might get to work with mike for a summer or something?
Mike does not do any hiring of the crew, as he works for Discovery and the crew works for Pilgrim Studios. Resume and a cover letter should be sent to either Eddie Barbini or Eddie Rohwedder at:
Pilgrim Films and Television 6180 Laurel Canyon Boulevard #350 North Hollywood, CA 91606
We have had someone from the boards work as an intern on the show (the Katrina episode), but I don't think anyone has for a prolonged period of time. I would still go ahead and send the resume to the Eddies at Pilgrim.
Hi Mike ! I hope I'm posting this in the right place ? I just have a comment to make here. I think you're great ! I love your show , I am disabled so I get to watch about all your shows , and reruns are just as great too ! You are a funny guy , love your expressions, and funny sense of humor . I would have loved to work with you when I was younger , you certainly make working fun ! I don't think I could ever watch Dirty Jobs again if someone else was to replace you ! Hope you stick around ,, and keep me entertained for a long time ! Mike Thanks ! Hope you read this ,, it would really make my day ! keep up the good work ,, Rod
Hi Rod and welcome to the forums! We all think Mike is quite the guy!
However, I don't think Mike will see you post in this particular thread since there is no real reason for him to check it out. Click here to go back to the first page of the forum and scroll to the top. You'll see seven boxes in gray. Click on "New" and then click on "Discussion." That will start a new thread for you.
I'm know that Mike is tremendously busy with all that it takes to make the show, however, being an ex Murlander(Marylander)and being a left coast transplant also, I'd love to ask him about where he grew up, went to school, fave hangouts, the basic skinny on his life before he traded coasts. And let's be real here a chance to flirt with him openly and shamelessly...promise not to ask him to play “Misty” for me or anything of that nature.
I know it might take some time for a reply from him but hey anything that is good is worth the wait. Being deficient in my message posting skills could you let me know how to post a message to Mike or direct me to the appropriate section of the site...apologies for my ignorance.
My best advice would be to grab your favorite beverage, kick off your shoes and click right here. There is a wealth of information in the FAQs, bio, and Q&As and most of your questions will probably be answered there. If after that, you still have a question then go to the first page of the forum, which is right here. Then scroll to the top and you will see a row of five boxes. Click on "New" and then "Discussion" and then post your question. But please be patient as Mike really has not been around much lately; in fact, he has literally written one word in the last three weeks. But we still have a lot of fun around here, and we hope you join in the fun.
Hope that Helps and Have Fun! Laurann

I think I figured out the process and my "questionnaire" to Mike was posted.
I understand Mike is a very busy man, couldn't imagine all the time, travel, filming, more travel, coordinating and planning it takes to make the show. As well as Mike trying to have some sort of "normal" life and having people like me trying to get the 411 on his life like the National Inquirer...sheesh. It must be fun being on tv but I am starting to feel sorry for the man and all who are involved with filming and bad for asking so many questions.
Anyway, thanks again and I hope that one word, posted by Mike, wasn't HELP!!
how do i post. im a very sick person and wanted to let the show people and mike that seeing his show brightens my day and makes me feel better. thank you
Hi, here's what you do. Click right here. Scroll to the top and you will see five gray boxes. Click on the one that says "New" and then click on "Discussion." Name your post, write your comment, and then click on post now. It may take a few minutes for your post to appear, as the server seems to be acting lately.
I am interested in having Mike serve as emcee at an upcoming awards presentation. Has he done anything like that in the pst, and who might I talk to about setting this up? This is a different kind of Diry Job - no actual dirt or animal byproducts involved! Thanks!
I figured after 30-something posts I ought to introduce myself.
I'm Claire and reside in Tennessee. I live in Columbia and work in Nashville. Grew up in the San Fernando Valley in California.
I really enjoy DJ mainly because I always learn something liberally sprinkled with Mike's sense of humor.
And I especially wanted to acknowledge the moderators of the boards. You all do a fabulous job. People are made to feel welcome, and questions are answered, no matter how many times the same ones are asked. My hat's off to you.
Thanks for running a great MB. I am enjoying reading all the posts and getting to know everyone's "virtual" personality.
Hi Claire and welcome to the boards! Thank you so much for the kind compliments; however, I'm not a moderator...just a fan like yourself. It just happened that one day I decided to try to make it easier for other fans to find out information about Mike and that's how this thread started. I hope it's been of some use to you.
This is a little picky, but in the newest episode where mike is a winemaker, he was mistaken in the last line of the bit. he says, "you didn't really think the last image i was going to leave you with was me, drinking out of a beaker." In fact, mike never drank out of a beaker. what he was drinking out of was a flask, an erlenmeyer flask to be exact. I only bring this up because I am a chemist and am trying to quell the misconceptions that everything we use are beakers. Other than that, great show!
Laurann, moderator or not, you do a great service to everyone by being so helpful. (I made sure to try to read the FAQ and all before posting my first time. Your links are great!) Thanks so much.
powers10, that's a great observation. You may want to add it to the forum that talks about this week's episode, if you haven't already.
I have a question I hope you have the answer for. I watched your show last night it was the catfish noodler I dont think I would fish like that but my question is when it came time to eat the catfish how was it cooked? I thought I heard the guy say vegtable and peanut oil but he didnt say anything else.I would really like to try it and hope my reactions are like Mike's was when he tried it. Great show I watch as much as possible.
You probably will want to post this question down below since it's doubtful Mike will answer anything in this thread and I don't know the answer myself either. To post a question, go back to the main page by clicking on the "Talk to Mike Rowe" in blue underneath this box. Then at the top of the page you will find a row of gray boxes...click on "New" and then "Discussion." Post your question there. Perhaps one of the other posters knows the answer to your question or perhaps Mike will be by and able to answer it.
