Mike,do you live with your mother? You mentioned that she'd hunt down anyone that messed with you in a recent episode. We were kinda laughing at you! You made the 40 year old virgin living at home with mom impression. What's the "real" story?
Wouldn't your discovery crew possy be way more impressive?
New to the boards, but have enjoyed the show and Mike immensely since it's first foray into the air waves. My husband and I love the show and try to watch every new episode as it airs. Quite frankly, I enjoy the show so much that I'll watch the re-runs too!
To Mike: Thanks for bringing some intellectual humor to television and still managing to enlighten people at the same time. I am glad to see that you are doing so well with the voice overs (NEW FORD COMMERCIAL) and I sincerely hope that Dirty Jobs continues to find crappy places for you to get into. I'm still trying to convince the husband to write you so that you'll come out and work with him!! (no luck so far )
Great post; very informative... I think. I have to admit, I'm a [message-board] virgin (HA! Been awhile since I've been able to say that!) and my head is just reeling at all that's here: a gashmillion posts, another zillion topics... there's no way Mike gets to read all of these! I would have to send out my son for a 24-hour playdate and quit my job just to read them--I can't imagine he could possibly read even a tenth of these. Nevertheless, I am curious as to where one would either request/praise or just overall dote on the show... is there a specific topic I should write under, or do I just make my own? Thoroughly confused,
You are right. This is a busy place! Mike has told us in the past that while he can no longer respond to every topic he has pledged that he will read them all. This can be found in "Mike's Message to the board in the original post of this thread.
The best thing to do would be to start a new topic. At the top of the page you will find a row of gray boxes, click on "New", name your thread, write your post, and click on "post now." The board has sometimes been acting a bit crazy so it might take a few minutes for your post to show up.
So, grab a refreshing beverage, pull up a chair, and take a look around!
Hi Mike, I've watched and or heard you on Discovery for a long time. I guess what I would like to know is , when will you show what a really dirty job it would be to work on a processing plant for the king crab,as on deadlest catch?? You've already shown how they are caught how about the cleaning?
Hi everyone! I love Mike and his show and we all just hollar with laughter while he is on and even make references to things he's done or said after seeing the show or some of the repeats.
Watched him for quite a while but never got into the boards ... until now!
My husband works at the poo poo plant here north of Seattle. He has a sick sense of humor, too.
I look forward to catching up with everyone and also "MikeRowe" on this site.
Oh, I forgot in my last post; I loved the spa visit you went on!!! When we were in Calistoga at the spa, the "big ole lady" just pushed me down on my shoulders and had me wiggle down until I was well into the mud! I then showered before I got in the bath that removes all the muddage from your crackages and then was put in a minnie space vessel that is a minnie steam room and had rose petals put on my eyes and forehead. HEAVEN!! I was a little embarrassed because everyone walked around all naked like it was all natural and when I left that area to go get my massage, I floated as I was melting bit by naughty bit.
If you've never had the spa experience, you MUST go!! Also, eat at the CIA. YUM!
If you're new here you probably have a lot of questions to ask Mike. Unfortunately, as the show has grown more and more popular, Mike has a more difficult time getting back to answer questions.
Here is a list of links that will take you to great stuff like his bio, FAQs, viewer questions, etc., that may answer that question you have for him.
If you only have time to read one section, I would recommend reading "Of Mike and Marriage aka Mike's FAQs...cathy1970's outstanding contribution to the board!

For those of you interested in reading Mike's posts here's how. Click here, which will take you to one of his posts. Now, click on his username on the left hand side. A dropdown box will appear; just click on "view recent posts." All of his posts will appear.
If 2000+ is a little too much for you then you can narrow down the search. The easiest way is to scroll to the top of this page and click on "Find." Then click on "Advanced search." When that page comes up scroll down to the calender and enter the date range you want to look at and then in the box that says "username" enter "mikerowe" (you don't need quotes). Hit enter. All of his posts for that time period will then show up.

****So You Think You Want to Work with Mike?****
Mike does not do any hiring of the crew, as he works for Discovery and the crew works for Pilgrim Studios. Resume and a cover letter should be sent to either Eddie Barbini or Eddie Rohwedder at:
Pilgrim Films and Television 6180 Laurel Canyon Boulevard #350 North Hollywood, CA 91606
If you want to be in front of the camera with Mike, remember that Discovery owns DJ and probably has final say on front-of-camera talent, as they have a lot riding on the show. Resume and cover letter should be sent to them. Mike has said in the past that any "cohost" would not work with him but introduce other segments.
Have fun and don't be afraid to join the madness!

oh, ya I just joined discovery! so trust me, I'll need this, so thans for posting it for everyone that's new!!
Just wanted to say "BRAVO" to Mike's response to a viewer in the Q&A on the DC Fansite I read today.
This was from a woman who was concerned he wasn't wearing any safety glasses during a jog segment. She being a work-comp lawyer and her husband familiar with the type of work in the segment, were floored safety was overlooked.
Mike's response to that was, of course, a hoot, but also insightful & honest. I work in the med field. I have to know OSHA & MSDS & work-comp.
Someone PLEASE help us!!! My son is almost 13 and is going through MIKE WITHDRAWLS!!!( me too!!!!) Where are the shows? have they moved, changed times what??? This is the only way i figured out how to post a letter. We will most definitaly send in for a picture. One for each of us. Thanks for any help Kim and Spencer from Michigan
Trust me...many, many of us feel your pain. This is always a difficult time of the year. DJ goes on hiatus while Deadliest Catch (which Mike does narrate) is on. Hopefully, there will be a few mini-marathons and long marathons to help us get through. Mike will be back with new episodes in July.
Perhaps, as reruns aired, you'll be able to record some as a "cushion" for when you feel those painful withdrawal symptoms.
NO MORE CABLE!! I never been so upset!! Some MORON drove a big truck down our street and ripped down the cable and some phone lines.. I dont know when I'll be able to see cable again..They said it would be awhile because there was more than just our line pulled down.. hope to see mike soon!! Casey
I just want to say...HALLELUJAH!!! I was so afraid the show was, for some unknown and insane reason, taken off the air. I just recently discovered this Fantastic show. I will be trying to find a way to buy past episodes from the first two seasons. "Dirty Jobs" being taken off the air would be a huge loss for those of us who have come to respect, admire and enjoy Mike's humor and zestful attitude. He sheds some much deserved, interesting light on many under-appreciated, very important jobs!
