Well, Well you go Mike this really was an excellent response. Your extraordinary personality and your bold comments is what makes you such an intersting person. And yes it is impossible to respond to each and every one of us, hey at least you do on some. Thank you for taking the time at least and reading our comments.

And yes we still love ya!
Keep up the dirty jobs and making us laugh.

Thanks Classylady43....

Mike, just keep up the great show! We love the interaction (and misadventures) that we see concerning your staff as well. Did they have any idea what they were getting into when they signed on? Eek

My only request is that you always have some safty items with you. Boy a mask in that salt mine sure would have made ME feel better.

Keep up doing what you are, we love you. Your's is the one show on TV that makes us all feel as if we know you and your are (for better or worse) part of our family.

The greatest thing in the show, it that you make me laugh and we know how good that is for our health Big Grin.

Gentle hugs Mike,
JK

Hi Mike! What a great idea to allow the viewers access and comments. Would all the other shows please pay attention? I think this should be a trend.

Anyway, I have never tried to contact anyone unknown to me before, but made an exception in your case. Discovery Channel, I'm am a 51 years young, female Midwesterner, and have a 25 year old son, a 23 year old son, a 20 year old daughter and a husband; all of whom love this show and watch it whenever we can. So much for the demographic appeal of this show.

Please do not bore us with a co-host "professional personality".........Mike has more than enough personality to go around, and he's REAL. He is hilariously funny to all ages, and makes what is reality in essence, dirty and NOT a great way to make a living, look both humorous, educational and provide a sort of public service, all at the same time. Not a small feat, I might add. Just ask the politicians.

Keep up the good work, Mike. You provide good, (ahem) clean fun, and you're not bad to look at, either. I have that on the highest authority......my daughter and her friends Wink.......

I just have one off the Wall Question for You Mike...
In The Commercials are YOU & the Pig really together on the set, or are You & the Pig in separate tapings and then, Edited together?

I believe that they are shot at the same time. If you go to the video vault on the DJ homepage they have the outtakes.

Hey there Mike, thanks for the great show and for doing all the things we don't have-ta. Still working on ideas, will post any that come into my brain.

Just saw the bit about you checking into a hotel room, as a flight attendant I do that almost as much as you do.

One helpful hotel hint: When faced with two double beds, it's important to sleep on the one closest to the bathroom: that way, when a fanged boogie monster comes snarling into your hotel room in the middle of the night, he won't see you at first, providing valuable seconds in which to hide under the bed.

Happy trails, thanks again - Luke in SF

Hi Leanne, and welcome. And thanks for watching my little show - I'm grateful. So grateful, that I'm going to use your post as an opportunity to restate my commitment to this board and the fans of Dirty Jobs. I’d also like to spell out a few things that might help with respect to your expectations about posting here, and everyone else’s.

The single most important thing to remember about my personal involvement on this page is my promise to read each and every post directed to me and related to Dirty Jobs. Please note, that "read" and "respond" are very different things. If your goal is to get a personal response, I can make no guarantee. Originally, I thought that answering a certain percentage of posts would confirm to all that I was indeed present on these pages. Now, it seems clear that many people assume their post has not been read if I don't respond to them personally. For newcomers, that’s a logical, but inaccurate assumption, confirming once again The Law of Unintended Consequences. So, as much as I’d like to personally welcome everyone, and wish every five-year old a happy birthday, and meet you all for a drink in my favorite café, I just can’t do it. I’m sorry.

However, if your desire is to critique Dirty Jobs, or comment on something you saw, or shower me with praise or disdain, you may rest easy in the knowledge that you are in the right place, and I really and truly will read your post. Honestly. Swear to God. Promise. Consider it my solemn pledge.

It's important to me, really, really important, that the fans of Dirty Jobs have direct access to the people who put this program together, because, whether you realize it or not, your feedback actually matters. (You might be surprised to know for instance, that your comments concerning a co-host went all the way to the top of the Network. As do your thoughts on every aspect of the show – music, format, etc.) To my knowledge, no other Network offers a more direct and viable pipeline of communication between the fans of a show and the people who produce it than Discovery. And I am 100% certain, that no other host/producer has taken advantage of that pipeline than me. In the words of Frasier Crane, I’m listening. So is production. So is the Network.

No pressure – Dirty Jobs is fun and unscripted, and this page should feel the same way. If it's not fun, it's not worth it. But I want you to understand that this little fan site is a pretty remarkable way to affect the people who literally make a show that you actually watch. That’s very cool, and very rare. Do with it what you will.

Few general things...

Regarding suggestions for Dirty Jobs – please don’t post them here. Post them on the page ingeniously marked “Suggest a Job.” Those go directly to research, and have a better shot at being considered.

Regarding repetitive questions – Anyone is invited to cut and paste my earlier answers to redundant questions. If you ask me a question and someone else uses my own words to answer it, don’t get cranky. If your goal is to get the question answered, this is a solution. If your goal was a personal reply, please reread paragraph two. However, if your question is answered by someone other than me in a manner that is seems officious, patronizing, self-appointed, or supercilious, feel free to take umbrage, and accept my apology in advance.

Regarding my “hotness” – whatever.

Regarding feelings – those who allow themselves to become hurt, angered, upset, slighted, offended, righteous, indignant, affronted, or otherwise insulted are simply in the wrong place. This is a virtual world, and part of the fun in being here is in leaving behind the drudgery of our daily dramas and fragile feelings. As I’ve said before, giving an anonymous person the power to actually hurt your feelings in cyber space is a decision, not a reaction. When trolls appear, or general rudeness occurs, let it play out. All idiots are armed with enough rope to hang themselves. And all response are saved forever. Be nice. Be in on the joke. Let the morons define themselves.

Finally, understand that this is not my board - it belongs to Discovery, and I have nothing at all to do with the policies and rules herein. My own posts have been deleted for reasons I can't explain, and I have no direct control over anything that happens here. If you are baffled by trigger words or random censorship, we have something in common. And if you have come to believe there is nothing to be done about it, then we have that in common as well. It’s part of the price of admission.

Mike

PS. Leanne, how’s that for a welcome?
mike can you look at my other commets at look here mike plzs!!!!!

Hi Mke,
I am yet another newbie here to tell you how awsome you are. I am sure you get tired of hearing the same thing over and over again, but I have to get it out of my system. Since is the newbie section, I figured this is the place. This is my first post ever, anywhere. I do not normally do this kind of thing, but I felt like you should know how much we love you and your show.

I am sure it is easy to fall into the thinkng that we like you because you are famous, with your own tv show and what not, and maybe there are some out there who do fall into that category. But at least from me, I feel like that if you were some guy I met at a friends party or what ever, you would be a cool guy to hang out with. Someone I would ask for they're number at the end of the evening. Not because you are good looking (even though you are), but because you are intelligent, well spoken, and funny.

All of your fans are chicks because you appeal to that part of us that looks for that smart, funny guy who will make us laugh for years to come. I am only sad that you are someone I will never get to meet and share a beer with, or kick your butt at 42 (a domino game we play here in texas). Keep up the good work.

Oh! By the way, I am not sure if you are aware of this, but Ford trucks suck and have sucked since the late 80's. I had an 82 F-150 that could take a lickin', but their new trucks are very disappointing. Love ya, anyway Though Wink

Sincerly
A huge fan
Rckchik222

P.S. They Don't want to see a female host because they know they will be jealous. Same reason I don't want to. Big Grin Wink But they are right, the show is fine the way it is. See Ya later, Mike.

Wink Well as a new fan of DJ I have to say that I look forward to getting know everyone. I am a single-mom from Greenville, SC. I love the show for many many reason, and I am glad to say that my entire family now shares the "Mike Rowe Experience" as we call it. It's probably the only time that all of us are in the same room at the same time doing the same thing.

So yes we love Mike and the Show and there is no need for a female co host. If you are looking for flirtatious banter slap a dress on a crew member and call it a day. Smile

just to set the record straight...I thought it would be a good idea to state up front that it was an old thread because if you were brand new to the mb it would be confusing. I was just looking out for any new person that joined.
I am sorry if that somehow was unthinkable.

Diana.
neither embarrased nor hurt.
just lookin out for the other guy.

Even though your post was written about 2 years ago, BRAVO Mike and as usual it was written with all the warmth and wit that we your adoring fans have come to know. As a new member in the community, it was great reassurance of your commitment to reading everything and responding as much as you can. I am touched to know that even with all the hectic chaos you have going on in your career, you still make time to read all these posts and fan mail. I'm not sure you realize how meaningful it is to fans to have a direct line of correspondence with their favorite TV host. Not expecting a response to this or any of my other posts, I'm just hoping that one day you'll read this and know how important you are to us all. I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say I love you. Take care and be safe.
xoxo,
Annalyse

Hey, I watch your show all the time and if I'm not mistaken you are the cash cab driver and love that also. Would like to have you for a couple of hours to see just how dirty you would get, and I mean that in a good way. Can't believe that you are single. You seem to be a very sensitive, funny person, something that I think all women would like to have in a man. Hope to hear from you soon. LOVE YOUR SHOW ANYWAY.
